It seems that as of recently, when you log in to the forums with a Steam account, you first get "no account could be located with your username", and then when you log in again, it dumps you in your account page, but after that you can use the forums.
This is starting to get really annoying for me. Any fix?
In the end I think no Steam account would be more convenient.
However, today I logged in successfully on my first try and was send directly to Spiral Knights > My Account. The account could be located indeed.
If only there was a way to unbind your account from Steam. There isn't.
I think I've managed to log in on my first try and get redirected back to forums. It happened yesterday or few days before, I'm not sure, but it was quite recently. Doesn't seem anything got fixed, I was just lucky.
Another flawless login that redirected me straight to the forums! Although there was one small flaw, and it was somewhat long delay between submitting login data and redirecting to the forums.
there should have been a big warning for people starting the game in steam, that they may be better off creating a web profile instead.
it seems pretty silly to not setup a way to address this with a simple database modification to transfer steam to web profiles on a delay like during scheduled maintenance periods, at least doing it like with a fee (but not as much as greedy blizzard).
i'd like to move my steam profile knight to this web profile i made during steam outage, so i am not affected by steam login outages, or unable to play on linux.
or depending on how the database is setup, just link a web profile to steam profile so that both logins can be used to access the same collective account (so many solutions, pick some, please).
I wanted to comment on forums, so I logged into this Steam account and it redirected me directly where I was on my first attempt! But when I wanted to post my reply, I got authentication error.
That happened probably because when I was logging in, the website was in a state where I "wasn't logged in", but the forums behaved as if I was. And I was logged in my non-Steam account yesterday, it's just that global login resets at different time than forum login (if that makes sense). So when I logged into my Steam account in my "half-logged" state, it probably got mixed together in a weird way. Everything said I was logged in my Steam account, it's just I couldn't post anything due to that authentication error and had to relog. The relog wasn't as smooth, but it got rid of the error.
It happened again, I logged in my Steam account and got redirected neatly to the main forums page. I was just lucky, logging in through Steam is still buggy.
I had one funny login today.
Typed my username and password on Steam.
"No account could be located with that username."
That's regular these days. I logged in again.
