It's been over a year and a half since the State of Haven announcement was created. With the recent announcement that back-end work has been mostly completed, would it be possible to see a new and updated "State of Haven" thread?

There's been a fair amount of work done on the game that is greatly appreciated (FPS slider for example - my spiral life has become blessed by this), but having a comprehensive list of changes over the past year and a half along with anything future oriented that can be talked about would be wonderful.

i'd also love to be able to pin this sort of thing to various social media places, such as the spiral knight subreddit, so that people who check back in on the game every so often can stay up to date on this sort of thing

Of course

An updated State of Haven would obviously be a welcome sight. I'm pretty sure anyone can agree seeing what Grey Havens are doing and have been doing is a plus.

Wait... An FPS slider?

Where is that? O.o

I didn't know either, so I looked

I didn't know about the FPS slider until Fangel mentioned it. But I figured that it must be in the game settings. In video. In advanced settings. And there it was.

Even just this thread is a good example of why an updated thread would be really helpful. There's a fairly large list of changes that have happened since Grey Havens took over, but so far most of them have been small and out of sight. FPS slider, style kit, guild hall additions/changes, etc are all things that people who are just casually playing the clockworks will never notice, but once told about, will immediately go and make changes to.

My computer runs the game well at high framerates, and for about a week or two I was locked into 60 frames. The game was playable, sure, however after adjusting to how smooth the game looked in 120+ frames, the drop to 60 was very noticeable. Trying to collect video footage was not great until the FPS slider was added back in, so I threw that back up to 200 and my game + recordings have been smooth once more.

Funny how all you guys are talking about upping your FPS cap while I'm going like "yes, I can lower it to 30, WOO PERFORMANCE"

(I'm in Australia I need all the help I can get)

So, what's next?

We heard they've done more back-end work behind the scenes, but what's more for GH now? Is there something else? Whatever they have, I hope they'll do it sooner, just like we want more new adventures.

@Asthix

What was wrong with them?

I played GITM lots of times before this, i didn't experience anything wrong with them.

I noticed that too Asthix! There is one in particular on the second floor, right side, bottom of the right branch. After the wisp corridor, there is a series of sparking floors. Visually, it looks like you can hug the bottom edge to avoid the zap zap floors, however your path gets blocked by... something? Well that something is now removed!

Amazing that they fixed it 4 days after the bug report... even though bug reporting itself took a year lol.

A note to Grey Havens

Communication and update to the state is critical to every playerbase.
Hope gets lost and players forget about SK.

I'm just saying Grey Havens choose to keep the game alive for us, must they want to keep players around too?
We need to bridge a connection to developers, as we practically test the game for them, we can analyse it for them, suggest what needs to be worked on, that can only begin with the start of knowing we are heard and understand their feedback and what they want.

I believe that there are several simple concepts that SK desperately needs. Things it needs in order to be even feeling worth playing the next day. I always long to play SK with having things to play for, goals, community. But when I start playing again I just feel empty. I lately figured that the one easiest thing that will make a lot of people want to play, is friends.

The one thing that keeps players playing, is a strong link with their friends, having a good time and more importantly being able to help each other in play-time when it comes to a game like this. TBH Co-op died with the old revive mechanic. Seriously I think A LOT of people agree. It is just a fundamental aspect of a squad based PvE game. I have seen people leave SK because of good elements of SK taken away because the game just seems to have taken a turn for the worst. I really do think this aspect must be discussed, it is integral to SK, and hopefully addressed. There's a lot more to talk about it.

If a start is to be made, I say it is with the simple yet intricate elements which made our game so damn unique.
Make Spiral Knights great again.

MMO PVE game needs at least 4-5 avg updates per year or 1-2 big updates. You can't keep players for a long time without it. In PVP games we have many different situations, huge amount of tactics and unpredictable behavior of opponents. But in PVE we know every corner, monster, secret and etc. So updates are necessary, well known environment makes game boring.

Do you think that it's good idea to slow down players by creating freaking stupid donation's wall of radiants? I'm sure that almost nobody gonna buy rads for lvl up, it's better to buy few games instead of heating one armor set, whereas you need at least 5 sets. As i said many times before, you can sell rarities booster, that triples all rarities. It was supposed to replace elevator pass, but it wasn't.

I'm glad that GH don't read our messages, cause we do the same (just there are no messages from them).
