I've been having the same issue as well. Just tried downloading a fresh version of Spiral Spy, and I got the exact same error message that The-Blue-Salamandr did.
I have no clue what's wrong with your spiralspy. It works fine fo me on win10 as well as win xp.
I can get the same error but with ss 1.4 from spiral.onyxbits.de
So I just heard about this yesterday and it is great. I tried to download ss 1.5 from spiral.onyxbits, but I ran into the same error. However, I downloaded it again from the link Ogygus posted above, and it resolved the error. So that may help you.

I tried the build that ogygus linked and it works. So many items weren't working in the older versions and now most of them does. GGWP dude <3
