So for a bit of context, a couple of days ago I wanted to play SK after 3ish or 2ish years of not playing it. The main reason I quit was because I primarily played played LD and 1: I didn't enjoy T3 LD as much as T2) and 2: LD made my game lag out because my laptop is trash). so I stopped playing. eventually I picked up OSRS(old school Runescape) and found the game to be fun mixing in nostalgia to kick start me back into it. In OSRS there's a game mode called iron man where you have to be complacently self efficient and the game takes away all player interaction from these type of accounts players (other then talking and certain exceptions)
So I thought a good way to get back into SK would be to self impose these restrictions onto a new account. With the end goal of making one piece of equipment from each SL. The idea is basically: no auction house, nothing bought from the HOH (recipes would be to easy) and picking solo which limits a majority of player interaction.
now there are some problems to this play style.
1) you need energy to buy Shadow keys.
yes, that is true. Since there is no natural way to get CE(other then buying it) AND the fact that the only way to buy a shadow key is with CE. There's no possible way to get a shadow key without interacting with the games economy. Even if only a little. So I guess I cooooooooooould just buy it, but i'd rather have a challenge in between in order to unlock it.
2) trinkets
this, this is a bit tough.
while I want to play LD to get trinkets. I still have that same trash laptop from 3 years ago. And I don't know how well it handles LD.
+ the whole player interaction thing. But i'm not to iffy in playing LD for trinkets
3) orbs.
I don't the numbers. but getting orbs via depths would be quite the tedious grind. originally I forgot you could get them from prize boxes but once I remembered I didn't just want to buy. But I didn't want to do constant runs and runs and runs only for 2 orbs or something per hour. So I thought of 2 options.
-I actually grind out every orb I want.
OR
-I can't repeat ANY mission I've done. BUT i'm able to buy orbs of the supply store (or what ever it's called.)
While not to harsh. I think its decent enough of a barrier. To actually go through the clockwork if I wanna grind the jelly king/RT
And for the repeat missions option. I think it would be a little fair to repeat danger mission, but only once per day. And to do OCH only once I have a the *'d armor, helm, shield, and weapon of the tier i want to go into. (so if i had 4 * armor but 5* everything else, i wouldn't be able to do the T3 part.)
as well as only doing OCH 3 times for the hammer or helm.
personally, I want to record my progress and post it to these forums. As the person who inspired me to do this also started out by doing this. I will play this account for a fact. But whether or not me screen shooting getting recipes, making equipment, or doing stuff in general, is up to you. If there's one thing I want you answer, is if I should share my recordings.
However I would love to see questions from you, and answers from mine as well.
I look forward to responding to you all
P.S. im getting a new laptop towards the late end of this summer, so i'll be able to play SK a little better.
Consider changing the goal from "get one piece of equipment per Shadow Lair" to "do all of the content at least once". Because the former requires tedious grinding or planning, just to get items that mostly you don't want. And the latter requires you to do Grinchlin Assault, etc.
You should allow yourself to buy energy using crowns. Then you'll be able to buy Shadow Keys and Orbs of Alchemy. That solves issues 1 and 3.
If you want to forbid yourself from repeating missions, that sounds good to me. It's like the old days. I hope that stratum 5 of the FSC gate is nice to you. Getting Radiants is going to take a long time. An exception to get the OCH items is okay I guess.
Regarding issue 2: You don't need trinkets.
I'm not going to watch your recordings. I would be more interested in a fact-based journal: After this many hours of play time, I got stuck at the 4-star Hall of Heroes. After this many hours of playing, I passed the 4-star Hall of Heroes. Stuff like that.
Have fun.
