Are YOU one of those doofuses who crosses before completing your side? Well, know you're part of the problem. Basic Vana etiquette since the dawn of man has stated that you complete your side first, THEN cross over. It's freakin 2018 and I still see people crossing over after doing one room. I don't even care about carrying people, but the least you bozos can do is pretend to put in effort.

Damn, are your 20 seconds that it takes for them to cross the map all that precious?

not that

I understand Manlet's frustration. In a cooperative setting such as a Spiral Knights party, there is a real danger of freeloading. Crossing FSC depth 25 to gather treasure is a way for knights to dodge their fighting responsibilities.

It's not that the wasted time is such a big deal. It's that the benefit to this time-waster is exactly nothing. So they are unilaterally wasting a little of my time, without even benefiting from the time-wasting themselves. It's somewhere between inconsiderate and sociopathic.

Sometimes they do it because they can't handle one of the rooms (for example, rocket puppy). That's okay, but they should be up-front about it, and they should watch me beat the room, so that in the future they can try it themselves.

You don't seem to understand what I mean or are one of the bunch who doesn't know how to play the game. I don't care if people are bad, that's expected. I just want people to do their part. Finish your side, then you can move to my side and loot all my work. Instead, your average scrub will do one room and I have to do the other 6-7 rooms for them. Again, not something I am irritated at if someone is actually that bad and can only do 1 room by the time I clear 4. What irks me is people don't have the decency to put in their part of the job. All I'm asking for is effort. Your comment is literally like saying, "I won't put out the trash cuz it only takes the trash guy 20 seconds to walk all the way into my property and take it anyways." Do your part, jackass.

you should expect any kind of player joining to your run if you let your party open to public and more when you play Fire Storm Citadel. i mean most of time when i do FSC with guildies we know what we would do in the run because well we are guildies long time sure they know how to play and when we recruited new players we also teach them, took them a while to do their part in the end their learned how to do it. of course we cant expect this with open parties in FSC because you are risking yourself to let in your party players that are totally lazy people or people that mess the set ups.

so mostly if i get invited to a FSC run which come from a guildie or a friend, im expecting as them everyone will do their part because well is a made up party from the beggining not pickinp up anyone, but when i do FSC runs and i let my party open to public im expecting any kind of player even those that just dont do anything and wait for everyone kill everything and get the loot (even if they are 2* 3* 4*)

in short: if you hate that kind of player, dont get mad. just make your own FSC party and dont let the party public to anyone join.

Eh...

Personally I just go clockwise from the starting point until there are no rooms left to do. That said, I used to run FSC with a Torto shield for the fun of it, and the MSI penalty does noticeably slow you down when running long distances across the floor to collect sprites. So I've learned to just be patient when running that floor. People move at their own pace, and I'll wait for you if you're willing to wait for me.

It's also worth noting that I'm an old fart who still breaks all the lamps on all the floors. I've always been a slow player.

My pet peeve

I'm cool with people goofing about and not doing much. I'm used to running solo so company is fine, but i was gonna do it all either way. Its all fine and dandy until they wander into the puppy room like some dilapidated eggplant and aggro it while i'm trying to have a nice clean run. Even more so if im running only bombs/swords/blitz and have no feasible way to quickly kill it.
It gets people on my shit list as fast as stopping to shoot alchemers in lockdown, which is an entity of its own.

I still fail to see how it matters that much. This is just a game, ffs

When i see someone doing that, yea, sometimes anyone can get a bit annoyed, but in the far end it inpacts in a grand total of zero things

Remember, don't shoot food.

It matters because they're human which means they need to complain about minor inconviences.

Same thing as if you drop a piece of trash on the floor. You can pick it up like you're supposed to or you can just leave it there for service people to do later on. Either way it's getting thrown in the trash, just one choice makes it look like you tried while the other makes you look like a pos. It's really that simple.

You cant compare a piece of trash on the floor and a videogame level, its two completely different things. One is your obligation, the other is something pointless you do to have fun \ kill time.

Obviously, but for simplicity's sake, I used that example. I figured it was simple enough to understand, but apparently not. Feels like kids these days can't read between the lines so I'll use another example. Like everything in life, hobby or not, if you sign up for something, you are mostly obligated to partake in what you signed up for. If we compare it to a sport, you can't just play basketball and then just stand still at the end of the court the entire time and do nothing. You can't play football and sit down on the field and consider yourself a player. You can't participate in a soccer game and never try to kick the ball. Obviously, you technically can do all those things, but nobody will want to play with you cuz you're not even trying. Same concept here. This really isn't rocket science.

The fact you used that example for simplicity doesnt make it right, and doesn't change the fact this is just a videogame.

I understand perfectly what you are saying, i just find it to be wrong. In my opinion.

Wow, so stubborn xD

Well, Azuresh, you need to know that not everyone sees this as "just a game" and some people actually take it seriously. Not everyone sees the same thing, it can have some kind of value for someone so they take it seriously.

Ikr, I hate it when people just expect me to carry them through.

@Azuresh
-That's one stubborn fight you've got going on right now. And in my opinion it should be proper etiquette for vana runs to actually try to do a few rooms on D25. Also, just fyi, when manlet did the analogy you only commented on the effectiveness of the analogy not whether you agreed with him or not.

So then would you also be the sort of person who'd kick someone out of your FSC party because they don't have Blitz

There's a big gap between that and the original post. I definitely do not kick people who don't have Blitz. But I have kicked someone for sitting down during the Vanaduke fight. (True story.)

I only kick people who are under the rank of defender and can't hold their own, I don't care if they got the right weapons or not. If someone AFK's too much I can understand that we all got lives so I don't kick. But to just be there sitting and expect me to carry, that's a well deserved kick. In the boss fight I don't kick anyone cause everyone does something if someone doesn't have a blitz they water. If they AFK during the boss fight I don't kick either cause I cam understand that.

I honestly can't remember the

I honestly can't remember the last time I've ever kicked someone. I can roll with anything, short of actively obstructing progress or harassing other party members. 0-star Recruit? Try not to die. Didn't bring any weapons? I've got enough for the both of us. AFK? Me too; it's good to get up and stretch once in a while.

But you had best pick up a mineral or, so help me God, we will be sitting here in front of this elevator until the end of time.

As I've stated previously, this isn't a topic of skill. This entire post was created with the focus on common courtesy and basic etiquette. I don't care how good or bad someone is. I carry people everyday and it's not something that bothers me whatsoever. The only thing I ask is that people try their best. If people attempt to do the bare basics and fight a little, they are doing great in my eyes. I don't care if they die a few times. I have enough sparks where it's a nonissue to burn them here and there.

And no, I do not kick people for being undergeared or having weapons that they think are fun. The only times I have ever kicked people is for having rude behavior or blatant trolling.

Seems like people who doesn't understand OP are people who have 3+ seconds reaction time in traffic and still play fsc just for the fun of it. You need to realize that some people are at a point in their SK-life where fsc is pure farming for rads and cr and every second wasted in it will stack after thousands of runs. It's like saying "what's the point in investing in this new factory just to reduce the production time by 1 second per item?"

I've only kicked players for 3 reasons:

AFKing while everyone else is waiting on a party button for them.
Bringing no weapons at all.
Being generally disrespectful.

I've been kicked from my share of parties too. Some of the interesting ones are:

Using tortoguns (and doing more damage than other players).
Using shard bombs (and doing more damage than other players).
Not using my blitz. (Iron slug is better.)
Teleporting downed players to a party button.
Not reviving downed players.
Heating 3* armor in T3 because... reasons...

I have rarely kicked people

I have rarely kicked people out of my group, though when I do, it's usually due to the obvious reason of afking a ton of times. I'm fine if you afk like once, but if everyone has to wait 5 minutes before a battle multiple times because u need to do something, it'd be worthy of a kick in my books, not cuz it is malicious, but because you are simply wasting time for others and you should probably focus on the one thing that is constantly distracting you from the run

There was only one time I kicked someone due to a unique reason, involving water orbs in particular. The guy has been warned numerous times not to water when the mask was in an extinguished state, but he kept throwing the water orbs at it. It's even worse cuz it was not a timing issue, he was throwing the orbs even when the timer just said "3". Because he posed such a danger, I had to kick him.

As for the OP thread in particular, it does peeve me when I see people starting to collect the loot when there are still available (and easy to do) rooms. But other than that, that's about it, wouldn't really annoy me UNLESS the person didn't do any rooms. Strangely enough, doing a room with me also makes me peeved, but I know it's not really justified, so I just keep quiet
