the status of spiral knights
Spiral Knights is in a state of recycling. From annual events to lockboxes. The developers won't pull the plug because they are still making profit due to the amount of people spending energy on reskins that probably take a day to make. No progress, game is dead until it is no longer viable

Nick is busy working on his own game Slime Rancher and giving me treasure pods to yell at. I don't think he'll be coming back, and even if he did I don't think that's going to automatically mean this game would get new content.

Shut down the game already.
The reskins are getting worse and worse. Tons of cash players will quit sooner or later.
This game has no hope anymore.
Ps: Puzzle Pirates got new DLC

Many of us are still enjoying Spiral Knights. So please don't shut it down while we're having so much fun.
I'm not telling you what to do. If you want to quit, then do so. And if you want to come back, then do so. Meanwhile, we will do what we want to do too.
Shutting it down would be silly, people still enjoy the game, and new players continually get into it. The thing is like, you gotta take the game for what it is. Spiral Knights, whatever potential it once hand, is long past the point of realistically being that kind of a long term MMO you play for a decade while it keeps getting updated, and that means you gotta adjust your expectations.
Like hanging around a game you don't enjoy anymore, constantly being negative just drags the community down but more than that it ain't healthy for you either, I get it tho I was there once! I quit the game for the first time when Shadow Keys came out, then came back and stuck with it for a while, I think I semi-quit one more time in there but then a few months after the Battle Sprite update as 2013 turned to 2014 I realized I was pretty done, the game wasn't getting the updates I wanted and as much fun as I had playing with people I was just being negative more than I was happy, so instead of constantly wallowing in that I moved on! Sold my stuff, uninstalled the game, ad went out and did other things.
Funnily enough over four years later I find myself back because me & my best pal were talking about MMOs we'd played, and I brought up Spiral, they wanted to give it a go and my girlfriend did as welll since neither of them had played it before and so the three of us installed it and it turns out they both like it a lot, but more than that here I am actually enjoying it again, turns out a four year break is a heck of a palette cleanser. But I probably won't stick around, I'll play until either I or they feel we've had our fill and then move on again. As we're getting into tier 3 now I expect the post-forge update grind will be what finally turns us off, but that's fine, we've have a pretty dang fun time with it and without paying a penny, so if we stop, that's okay.
And that's really where you gotta be at with these kinds of games. Spiral Knights is a fun game with problems, but it can't last forever. And if you're still lingering hoping for change that ain't coming, maybe its time to move on, or at least take a break. There's so many other games out there (Like Slime Rancher! Go support Nick and pals doing what they want to do instead of trying to bring them back here) and even so many more things outisde of games! Go find something you do enjoy and be your best self <3

Back when I would play this game hardcore in 2011-2014 I swore I would never leave this game, being a nut about the lore and game aesthetic. 4 years later and I'm playing other games, haven't come back here immersively in a very long time. But because it's all I remember in my preteen (Heck even before then) years it's etched into my brain forever. I actually played it a few days ago on an urge after joking around with my friend who I had met in Spiral Knights. I would honestly be very sad to hear the game plug will be pulled, despite not playing anymore. It was essentially my teenage life, and seeing that disappear is a little sad.
So nah. I'd say don't pull it yet. I do see new people in Haven whenever I do decide to check in. And to get more content would take a lot more than Nick returning, which is incredibly unlikely.

GH's already stated they don't have any plans to shut SK down so yeah
