Why spend the time to make a reskin of biohazard when the base weapon doesn't see play?

Pollinator is like the golden toilet of weapons. It's absolutely fabulous in every way with all the bells and whistles attached and I could go on and on about how great it is, it has little smoke puffs and it makes slurping noises and..... but it's biohazard. Like why bother with a reskin for a weapon that already never sees the light of day? Look at all the node slime crushers that get released.. I very very rarely see those in spite of the fact that there are probably well over a thousand in existence.. no one wants to use suda because the sword is just bad, end of story, same story with biohazard, etc. etc.

At the very least they could have buffed it or upgraded it or something to avoid this situation.

more attractive?

It's a fair point. But maybe they're thinking that more players will use Biohazard if it looks gorgeous. Or maybe they're thinking that Biohazard is actually well balanced, and the players just don't know that, so they're trying to "trick" more players into trying it and being pleasantly surprised. I'm just speculating here.

updated version?

I made recently a post about a *possible* updated version of this gun. It would be nice if someone would go see.

@Bopp

That's true. I'm definitely going to use it as a side arm more often now that it's amazing and wonderful.. I just wish they would give it some attention in the balance department as well as the cosmetic department.

@Sam

We all have our idea of how to fix biohazard, and yours is fine although I think a bit naive. I did read it. The important thing is that the weapon gets a rework or a buff, some brief testing by the devs, and a balance patch.

I'm in no position of authority to say anything about it. I'm often wrong in my assessments. Very very little of what I've written has had any real impact. This is why I don't really post in suggestions much any more-- the developers don't want to listen to my suggestions AND I don't know the direction the game should go in. But I digress.

That being said and because you want to know, your suggestion doesn't really answer/discuss what you find wrong with the weapon. It's implied but never directly stated that you want it to do more damage. Why not suggest that? The mechanics change you suggest ignores the regular attack- would those also tag enemies? And if the charge is the end all be all why use the regular attack? You also didn't really do much research for your suggestion. Who else wants this? What have they suggested?

The best we can get out of your suggestion is that someone wants a change for the gun which is great but you could have just written "please buff biohazard thanks" and it would have the same amount of meaning.

For those reading at home, the suggestion is here- https://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/120793

My idea for Biohazard

IKR, why not Flowertech Alchemer XD.
"Poison Ivy" name for a reskined carbine/umbra (+poison) would be nice though XD

Its also the same for some less-effective weapons like cutlass, cleaver, node crusher, charcoalers, keg, gauntlet, and maybe the underrated broadsider.

My idea for fixing biohazard is just simple, just make orbs travel faster and using the charge attack would instantly detonate the orbs.

I do wish we could just get

I do wish we could just get the weapon reverted to how it was before gunner update, having the base shots deal damage and the charges set orbits made it a lot more practical.

It's a shame that they removed the old RSS for not acting as a bomb and leave this gun being everything (while also being horribly bad at it) except a proper gun.

Biohazard/neutralizer have the highest interrupt potential of all weapons (except maybe mist bombs... but difficult to boost mist bomb damage enough to actually interrupt everything).

Normal shot is pretty much worthless on them. Charge shots are pretty competitive for dealing damage.

The only thing that bothers me about this reskin is that it is of a boss weapon, and this is the first time we've ever received a reskin of a weapon that is obtainable from boss tokens.

On the bright side, it does mean we may see some reskins for pulsars, sealed swords, and DBB in the future, all of which would be lovely to have since they are used rather frequently.

Please don't reskin pulsars. People will actually find a reason to use them if that happened, and it wouldn't look good.

Fehzor on an alt here.

I don't think it matters that it's a boss weapon since it's aimed at 5 star players, all of which can (hopefully) beat ICMF a few times much more easily than spend a large amount of cash on the game. Even if it were fang of vog or even something like the tortodrone weapons, nothing is really a challenge for the target audience of these weapons and everything can be bought anyway... The game is 100% a sellout when it comes to collecting stuff etc. and it's been that way for a long time now.

To be honest I think pulsars need a rework as well, since they're that awful to play against in LD and that awful to play alongside in PvE. I'll write a suggestion about it I guess.

That's not the point

The point Fangel was making in saying that it "bothers" him that it is a boss weapon has nothing to do with difficulty of obtaining the weapon/gear itself. Instead, it is entirely about the fact that GH is setting a new precedent - previously all weapon reskins have been of HoH gear, now we are seeing the possibility of a whole new category of weapons getting reskins. That's it.

yeah

To be fair, I'm not so personally bothered by it since I think a prize box rocket hammer would be a neat way to give players access to multiple rocket hammers without a glitch on top of giving F2P players the chance to obtain a rocket hammer without the DLC (not as mandatory now that you can use energy to buy the DLC).

I just think it's an interesting route to take. We saw new weapons (sweet dreams, celestial saber) and entirely new mechanics (mixmaster) out of promos before we started seeing reskinned boss weapons, and since some of the most popular weapons in the game are boss weapons it will be interesting to see how they approach this now.
