Once you purchase a recipe from Basil, will you never be able to get it from him/her again? I picked up the wolver cap for a friend after I got the coat and was wondering if I would need to have him make my cap.

Yep. Recipes you previously purchased from Basil will still have a chance to appear the next time you see him. It all depends on the luck of the draw, though, so if he doesn't have it one time, try again later!
