I just want to know you guys' opinion.
Straw Poll about Mix-Master. Please participate!
So far with 19 votes.
We've got 11 yes and 8 no.
Seems like the majority of players would love to see an obtainable version of the mix master added to the game. I hope Grey Havens sees this and takes note of the data.
I'll try to find more players in haven and get them to participate!
Personally, I only voted Yes because I don't like the idea of having unique equipment restricted to lootboxes.
Would I use a Mixmaster instead of my Polaris, though? Unless its shots can also stagger Turrets, not in a million years.
While the Mecha Knights and Almirian Crusaders *can* be particularly deadly if they surround you, I'd rather have the Anti-Turret shots my Polaris provides rather than being able to hit the former's backs with ease.
The game needs money from players. Paying players need to receive something that they value, or else they will stop paying. If players continue to be satisfied with cosmetic items that have no effect on game play, then that's great.
It does bother me that there are play-affecting items that are (practically) available only to players who pay for them. I would like to see them made available more widely (or removed entirely).
Mixmaster was a mixtake that never should have come to the game the way it is, paid or free. But the genie's out of the bottle (or box) and although it needs some undeniable adjustments, that's not what this thread's about.
A free orbitgun is for the best, under some conditions. It has to be either a Shadow Lair reward, requiring utmost skill and dedication in the game, or event-based, as the equally ridiculous cat suit is. But to keep everybody from going crazy with the fury of ten-thousand failed Book of Dark Rituals runs, it should be at least less of a luck check than the black kat head to get. I would prefer it be a Shadow Lair award because of the vomit induction that event-based gear tends to come with. Require multiple of at least Roarmulus' and Vanaduke's mats to build, plus the guild hall furniture materials you get from Brinks doing the normal versions, crafted out of some regular 4* gun, and either Normal or Elemental without status, since prize box variants tend on adding statuses and this is the "vanilla" to the Mixmaster and C. Orbitgun.
At the risk of going off on a tangent, I think that the Black Kat armor, as frustrating as it is, is nowhere near the level of the mixmasters.
Anyone can get the 3-star Black Kat helmet for 70 Ancient Pages pretty easily. And anyone can buy their way into a Margrel party to get the 3-star Black Kat suit for something like 400,000-500,000 crowns. The 3-star armor is as good as the 5-star armor for offense. It's not as good for defense or bragging rights, but those are smaller considerations. And what you're getting is an adjustment to your statistics.
I haven't priced mixmasters recently, but my impression is that they cost vastly more than half a million crowns. And they don't just adjust your statistics, but rather give you an entertaining new play style that you can't get from other items. So they bother me much more than Black Kat.
Also, due to the player driven market. They cost a vast amount more money than the OCH dlc. If you were to buy a mix master with USD it would cost roughly 450$. No item in a game should amount to that. If you were to merchant your way to the amount of crowns needed, it would take multiple months.
I am an owner of a mixmaster, and I for one want to advocate on behalf of non-mixmaster owners who still want one.
It took me literally years to acquire one, and like Goldentails said, it should not and is not worth the 450$ price tag that merchants are attempting to sell it for. They don't even play with it!
I wish there were a free 2 play way to acquire your own mixmaster, and for that matter, all other promo weapon reskins.
@Bopp
Overcharged Mixmasters cost about 180-240ke (450-600$) as far as I know.
@Paintool
It's not about skins in general, it's about a unique weapon with different mechanics and stats than all the others in the game. Reskins can go to hell for what I care, but I care about the unique gear to be available to everyone, which isn't only the mixmaster but also the orbitgun, celestial vortex, celestial shield, teddy bear buckler, power mitts, msi trinket.
People unironically voting No/That it should be weaker than the pay to win version HAHAHAHA
hahaha a bunch of ftp now beggin in VOTES ftw!
Even though I can't afford a mixmaster, I voted for the 4th one. I'm fine with a weaker version, like it only deals normal dmg or maybe an elemental one but only up to 4 star. Ofcourse it should have a different name and skin that isn't as flashy as the mixers.
I don't want to make the mixer/orbit gun free for several reasons:
- Ppls farmed for it (like selling stuffs)... or just farm tons of FSC runs for several months.
- They pay for tons of boxes and luckily unboxed it.
- Its dps is so high that it would outperform several weapons on PVE (I heard it from some ppls who own mixers themselves said that each projectile has a dmg of an alchemer, and some said that its better than brandish spam charge on FSC), but whether those ppls does single-switching or not is unknown.
- Ofc GH needs money ($_$)
P.S. I wish GH makes mixer/orbit gun less laggy
The mixmaster is actually broken is several ways.
1.) Can break a vanishing block that is behind an indestructible wall.
2.) The hit registry on breakable blocks is very inconsistent
3.) When single switching or even switch shooting it has a crazy high dps against undead and constructs.
If they developers brought a mixmaster out for everyone to obtain, it would be nerfed and these glitches would need to be fixed.
It will stay pay to win because it's unique and people wants it, so they buy tons of promo boxes. EZ 4 GH's Bank Account.
Anyway yes it is broken in fact, so it's not even a overpowered gun. In certain cases it's op, but not something you wanna use in every context. I bet some people wants a mixer just for the sake of having it.
Imo the most pay to win thing they could've done in term of weapons is like making Arcana a pay to win gun. There... whoa... I don't even wanna imagine. Especially in lockdown, the flaming would be twice.
Riftlocker is actually better than Arcana in LD cause everyone either have Chaos or Black Kat while Skolvers lack a lot when it comes to ranged combat (except when they have good latency) so you can just go with piercing damage :P
Back to the point, of course the mixer is broken where it stands now, it HAS TO BE fixed now or later and for it to be weaker than the original version is just unfair. Yes people farmed for it, you can just give them something to compensate for it like some new promo boxes (maybe even with exclusive colors) or whatever but you have to make every single piece of equipment obtainable in a F2P game.
The Arcana is usually used for zoning players in LD so if it were a P2W gun there would be other guns that could be used instead of it
Are we forgetting the old good valiance from the old meta? Arcana is just a reskin with elemental damage that makes it more viable. But valiance's use was more of a cancel weapon rather than a damage weapon like arcana is.
It still can't be compared to mixmaster. Two complete different styles of guns with different roles and damage.
Mixmaster is more of a fun weapon and also deadly if you can somehow spam boomerangs without hitting party mates which cancel the projectiles. It's fun to use and very safe and party friendly (unless they run a toaster pc) which is why it should stay the way it is for those that luckily got them from years ago or for those that can buy one if it's justified they'll use it.
I do think another version of mix or a reskin should be released in a less p2w way but picky people will still go for the OG one. That's how it is.
Ps: nerfing mixmaster would make it just another ordinary polaris without knockback effect. I think those aren't glitches and they are on purpose, the only known glitch they fixed was mixmaster projectiles being able to go through ghost walls in LD spawns. I did that and it was very annoying for whoever got caught by unlucky shock projectile. The most annoying glitch it currently has it's its projectiles being canceled when touching team mates.
I just want a gun like the mixmaster. It's the only gun style I've never used and will likely never use. I've also been wanting a new elemental gun type for a while now. Now that I think about it... I guess I've just been wanting a new weapon style in general to play with.
If they released a gun line with the same mechanics as the mixmaster without the status, I'd be the happiest knight in the world. I don't specifically want the mixmaster itself, just something that acts like it.
Right. I just want to be able to try out the play style. For comparison, heavy swords (Troika and Sealed) have my favorite "feeling" in the game. It would be sad if I never got to try heavy swords because they were behind a pay wall.
Here's a compromise between what I have and what I want: Change the guild advanced training hall so that it has a selection of weapons, including a mixmaster. So at least I can try the thing, if only on weak monsters in a boring environment.
I don't think it would bring back old players or change that much, just that it's the right thing to do.
