In a way its better for both the player base and the devs as more players are gonna play
Is Spiral knights ever coming to nintendo switch?
I have been thinking the same thing recently. SK is a really great mmo for just randomly partying with players. making it portable for the Switch could be a huge success. even though SK is old the graphics are cute and unique. only reason I don't see this happening is they probably don't have the money to take a chance that big. but if enough players wanted something like this they should let us know how much it would be and let us donate towards it. I certainly would be happy to support Grey Havens and donate toward a goal like that for a chance to revive a wonderful mmo.
Honestly tho, Grey Havens should do some sort of crowd funding. It would be really successful!
the controls would be easy. on blue left side switch joy con the joystick moves your character including which way you are facing, the d-pad moves your character as well but without changing the direction you are facing which would make it easier for gunners to move back and forth and fire their weapon more accurately. the minus button would change your weapon to whatever weapon is assigned to it. for the red joy con on the right Y would be attack, A would be block, and X, B, and plus button would also change weapons since characters can equip up to 4 weapons at a time. second joystick would control pet skills. back buttons L, R, ZL, and ZR would be the 4 item slots. a mouse controlled by the right red joy con motion control with Y as the click button to interact with the interface and menu options.

I'd love to see a Spiral Knights themed dungeon crawler standalone. Using current assets, you can have players start on the surface in proto, reach an elevator, and then go through a D1-28 run, all the while having random items drop from boxes along the way. You can also make Basil recipes have more of an impact so you can create more things along the way.
This would honestly be a really fun arcade game. Heck, I'd love to see that mode in the regular game too as a challenge mode, but being able to take it on the go would also be nice.
That being said, Spiral Knights as an MMO would not likely happen on the Switch. The game in a completely different form, as I explained above, may work, but it would be an entirely different game at that point.
Unfortunately, Switch lacks the raw power required to run Spiral Knights at a playable framerate. It's only designed for low-requirement games such as Breath of the Wild, Skyrim, and Crysis.
the Switch has more then enough power to run a small game like SK. really comparing Breath of the Wild to SK? Spiral Knights doesn't have graphics anywhere near as good as Breath of the Wild, the outdated in SK graphics just look good today cause they are so unique. Warframe is on the Switch and it's system requirements are higher then the SK system requirements. part of what makes SK such a great mmo is it runs on almost anything Mac, Linux, and Windows. it would be perfect if it had the option of being more portable as well.
I think the biggest problem would be not with Spiral Knights itself, but with the Switch and its infamously terrible internet connection.
I highly, highly, highly doubt it.
