Ok, so before I start, I am not here to attack Grey Havens in the slightest, and although I havn't played this game in a long while, I still enjoy it and its community. However, I'm afraid I have to put my foot down on the most recent update to the Supply Depot.
They are currently charging 99,995 Energy for the grey persona color. And if anyone's been playing this game for any amount of time, you would know that essentially, you are being charged over 200$ USD for a recolor H̶e̶l̶l̶,̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶e̶v̶e̶n̶ ̶a̶ ̶r̶e̶c̶o̶l̶o̶r̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶g̶r̶e̶y̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶t̶e̶c̶h̶n̶i̶c̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶a̶ ̶s̶h̶a̶d̶e̶.̶.̶.̶
I can understand making a certain cosmetic item a bit pricey for artificial rarity, and I understand this free-to-play game needs to make its money somehow, but no micro transaction in any game should ever cost over 200$, cosmetic or not. I can only imagine that this price was made more-so out of desperation than intentional anti-consumerism. (Again, I'm not trying to personally attack GH or any of its members.) Transactions like this mirror similar actions made by larger companies like EA and Activation as of recent years, and while I have no problems with GH trying to make some money with in-game purchases and artificial rarity, I feel this has taken it too far and should not become a trend, less GH recessives too much negative press and backlash.
And as one last note, the negative effects of this pricing can already be seen with Energy market currently going into a downward spiral out of people's desperation to get their hands on this recolor.
I’m fine with artificial rarity and the need to make some form of revenue somehow, but a line does have to be drawn somewhere, and wherever it is drawn, $200 clearly goes far beyond it.
