I honestly love gun puppies. I feel like they have so much potential to be a super fun enemy to deal with. I realized this while I was doing a danger room solely made of gun puppies and like 1 or 2 scuttlebots and I realized that the weaving through the bullets while targeting individual puppies and taking them down one by one was EXTREMELY fun. What I want to see is gun puppies being used in a way that's supposed to simulate a bullet hell play style. Maybe a floor composed ONLY of gun puppies. Just more bullet hell.
Gun puppy bullet hell
Can we all just agree that the lag argument is trash? Like yes lag needs fixing but that doesn't mean they should design the entire game around people rubberbanding everywhere.. that's ridiculous.
If you have lag:
A) You need a better internet connection and it's on you for living in Japan or buying bad internet or something
B) Your client is awful because it's using 32 bit java or has been running too long or something; go fix it
C) Your computer is so bad it can't run SK, and you need to purchase a new one
D) The game is just running slow, play another day or on another server lmao
Yes the developers could help this out a bunch by getting Australia servers, making a reset button/using the correct java etc. but most of the time it's on you and when it's not it's not that big of a deal. All of the players who want harder content can play in spite of their lag or don't have it because they're smart about it, aye?
Promo is very much in the right here. Instead of saying no to ideas that involve possible negative experiences for those with bad connections, you should be asking for better servers. That way you won’t be sitting around complaining about your low latency while also shooting down opportunities for other players to have fun simply because you don’t wanna miss out. It’s like a teacher canceling a field trip because one kid had a meltdown before anyone got on the bus.
I think both you and Fehzor are wrong, one is asking me to essentially go P2W in terms of my computer hardware (My wifi is already the best in town) while the other ask for servers which I doubt GH would be able to afford. Maybe GH can figure out a way to help us lower our graphics even further, if that is even possible, I certainly wouldn't mind the old UI making a comeback to make my screen less cluttered. That portrait serves no one.
As for feedback, I think a level filled with nothing but gun puppy would be pretty boring, it would be an anti-compound, a level so boring and easy that you would rather skip. Unless you are running pure sword/bomb. But for gunners these would be too easy, just shoot the turrets and strafe until they are dead.
Though if done right with some IMP mechanics incorporated into the level, where the challenge become timing rather than dodging, it will definitely grow my pulsar supremacist group.
I still think it isn't a good idea to restrict ideas simply because some people lag a bunch. It allows for less creativity. Maybe find different communication methods between the players and the servers. I lag a bunch in solo runs and I still think that's pretty dumb even for a game like this.
Regarding how boring it'd be, yes, with normal gun puppies it would be boring. But the key word there is normal. This could leave a massive amount of room for a revamp of gun puppies to actually make this entertaining for every weapon user. Maybe make the puppies shoot shots in a certain pattern where some of the shots in the wave block bullets while some don't and maybe some can be walked through without taking damage under certain conditions. Have them be invincible until you're within a certain range. Hell, maybe we can even get a new boss that embodies a variety of shot patterns and interesting ways to kill it. Of course it probably wouldn't be a gun puppy design for the boss because we have Roarmulus, but maybe a howlitzer or even a brand new design that isn't based off anything we have now.
Another thing that you said was that most people would skip that. This gives me an idea. What if we got a whole new tab in the missions menu made of levels that we can play in just for fun? It wouldn't just be for the gun puppy thing, but maybe we could get a bunch more things to put in to get a bunch of fun missions that focus around specific enemies and let them shine with their full glory?
This sounds like it would be the projectile equivalent of the razor rooms in treasure vaults, and while those can be fun, they're mostly fun because they have predictable patterns. If such bullet hell rooms had gun puppies much like in the tutorial where they do not target the player and instead simply fire forwards, that could work properly, but it's more of a hazard than anything.
I don't think the idea is necessarily bad, but it wouldn't be as engaging with just gun puppies. Having a puzzle segment where players have to weave around gun puppies and then loop back around to kill the puppies and collect some treasure boxes would work really well though.
Quick reminder Latency exists. Areas like that puppy room is fine, but if you really want to make it like a true bullet hell, its a big nope for this game. A good 1\3 of the playerbase plays on 1-2 bars or so. If you make something you cant just mostly dash and walk away from, its basically bs for the 1\3.
