Spiral Knights - Quick question about Obsidian Carbine

I'm not a new knight in any sense of the term, but since this is technically the "Question Forum" I figured I'd post it here anyway.

Does the Obsidian Carbine have a chance to poison with its regular shots or do you have to charge shot to get the poison effect?
