I decided I needed to inquire into this, but is it actually possible that a whole tier 4 is going to be released into the game in a relatively short period of time?

I ask this because I saw a video by Mr. Divine with him and a friend bringing this and other possible updates, through knowledge of what people "data mined" to discover. During this, they mentioned that it was possible that the developers were going to add this sometime in the near future, like before the end of the year. They also mentioned that someone had found a possible tier 4 weapon that was basically a mixmaster, but with a texture of a pulsar, and that it was a non-payment weapon to be made.

Is this true? I would love it it if the devs have decided to actually start inputting updates of this scale, but I would like to know if what they were talking about is true or more of a major myth that has suddenly began circulating.

Thank you for your time.

If you get a warning for posting spoilers, then it's true

"data mining"

Inspecting the game files for unannounced features would better be called reverse engineering. In contrast, data mining is about finding patterns in large data sets through certain statistical techniques.

Obviously I have figured out what you mean from context. I bring it up just because this is the second time I've seen "data mining" used in this way on these forums recently, and some people like to be corrected when they use vocabulary incorrectly. For example, that's how one learns a foreign language.

Or maybe the use of "data mining" is a deliberate attempt to cloak discussions of reverse engineering? If so, it seems too thin a cloak.

I have no response to the reverse engineering itself. Cheers.

I think"data mining" in this

I think "data mining" in this context is the older meaning of the term, meaning to dig through a program's data segment looking for nuggets. I've done it myself often, usually simply looking for character strings. The new meaning involving statistical analysis has only been around for a few years, since the development of huge data sets.

I would have used "reverse engineering" to mean inspecting the product to determine how it was made. In the case of software, it would usually require running a "decompiler" which inspects an executable binary and tries to reproduce the high level language code it was compiled from. I recall Berkeley using one of those back in 1987 (yes, I was a grad student then), when we captured a sample of the Morris Worm.
