Scouting Quests! New format without needing new content.

I think we could create a new questing format without adding any new content. This will serve to add some interesting flavor to the game.

Essentially these daily list quests will have requirements a player to run a series of rank missions like 5-1a, then 7-3b, then 3-2a etc. After you finish all the required rank missions, you could either get a reward, or get access to a unknown passage mission followed by a reward. The reward can just be a nice chunk of Cr or alchemy orbs or whatever. or it could be a room full of prize boxes. Whatever.

I think such a change would add to the game's play activity without adding any new coding. Rank missions are already balanced properly so that you can play them with any higher level gear and not oneshot everything, we might as well create quests that force players to go back to them.

Disagree with replaying rank missions

Most Rank missions are just particular parts of the Arcade. And the rest are part of the storyline, and don't really bring anything nice by replaying but breaks rather immersion.

Why not just make it a reward for playing Arcade instead? Arcade needs more rewards anyways. Or rewards for the Prestige missions, both the standard and Danger ones, as an experienced player the danger missions just feel a bit lacking, especially since I already have a the highest badge. Heck, that's a great idea actually, just adding more rewards to prestige missions, though then preferably also converting some more reusable rank missions to prestige ones. Or make it like an additional prestige mission that requires you to play arcade.

However you are bit missing the point here. We want more content not more rewards on existing content. Vanguards are doing prestige and arcade already, they are not doing ranked at all.

The issue right now is that ranked runs are kinda done once and forgotten. We simply need to make a rotating quest list banner which chooses rank missions at random. Players can run those 4 missions and reap the daily bonus reward. It is additional content, without additional designing effort. Look at the sheer amount of ranked missions available. Endless variety.

"World quests" and "dailies" are common parts of other games where game space is essentialy reused to entertain players who went there once to level up. Same deal. For us right now thats just prestige, and lets face it arcade is basically a sandbox mode with no lore or story behind your mission. Ranked missions have way more unique props and variety of monsters as opposed to arcade's rendered 8 sets of room layouts.

Arcade isnt going anywhere you can always choose that instead if you prefer. But, this could be added to the game with no effort and potentially spark a lot of activity.

I didn't miss your point. You missed mine.

I'm just saying that making us replay them won't really bring us variation more than playing Arcade is, at least if implemented as just replaying random ranked. And that basically all that can't be played through the Arcade, might break what little immersion is left since they're parts of the storyline that aren't really meant to be repeated. For example one of the more fun missions to replay that don't appear in the Arcade is Arkus, but he's a character in this story, and listening to his rambling again and again makes his story lose meaning. At the same time though, you can argue that it's no different from vana spamming, but I'm a bit torn on this.

I would want more content, I just feel like replaying some rank missions doesn't bring us that much, and that some others break immersion, but I guess at the same time I don't really mind replaying missions like fighting Arkus or Herex, except that those don't have rewards that make it worth it as it is today. And that most others, while available in the Arcade sometimes, could be used.

I'm just saying that one way to do something similar to your idea would be to select certain ranked missions to exclude, and that your idea could be implemented by adding on to the prestige mission system but hopefully also bring us a change to make prestige missions meaningful rewards. Also possible to consider just making them be in a deeper depth to give us a reason to play. Which I'd also want with the traditional prestige missions.

I like the idea of more variety in game but repeating rank missions doesn't seem like the best solution, it'd be like doing any other prestige mission we have over and over with a little more variety but the repeating of the lore could be annoying especially if it were a mission with cutscenes in particular. Bido makes a very good point, I think having some sort of "daily patrol" prestige mission of some kind that requires players to do a few arcade floors would be nice, arcade has some better variation over rank for sure.
