What are clockwork camps? Well they are a way to make exploring arcade a lot more interesting and fun! I'll be going over how they work in this post.
Clockwork camps are an encampment you can create at any depth in the clockworks! These camps are similar to clockwork terminals. Once a camp is created you can visit it at anytime to begin exploring the clockworks from that point! You can also customize your camp for various benefits.
Starting a Camp
To create a camp you'll first need Tier 3 clearance, once you have that he game will offer an optional tutorial about them. First you'll need to make a Camp Kit, this requires crowns and materials to create, as well as 3 eternal orbs of alchemy. Once you have camp kit, you'll see a new button at the start of each depth in arcade "Create Camp." Click this button to create your camp, once you do that you'll be taken out of the run and into your new camp!
You cannot make a camp at depth 1, or at a random depth.
Camping Basics
At the start of each camp, you have an elevator to the level of depth that the camp is made on, and also an arsenal station. The main appeal of the camp is that you can visit it straight from haven. For example if made a camp at d27 in Ruby Clover gate, you could click "visit camp" in haven and teleport to your d27 camp instantly! Since you can start runs from your camp, you can invite people to them!
There is a caveat here, the elevator at your camp has a limited amount of uses until it breaks down, in which then it will need to be repaired. Repairing your elevator costs energy, which scales with depth. Anywhere from 5 energy to 30 energy.
Customizing your Camp
Thats not all there is to camping! You can pick ONE special perk to make your camp unique!
Scavenger: Explores that part of the clockworks and returns materials and rarities for you. Talk to him regularly to receive your loot.(Passive)
Mineral Extractor: Mines minerals from the depth that you placed your camp on, does this passively and without player input. The amount extracted scales with depth. Check it regularly for minerals.
Mercenary: Hire a knight to accompany you on runs through the clockworks! His damage is no joke! Only if you start your run from the camp.
Researcher: Hire a knight to research this specific part of the clockworks. Talking to him before a run will give you a temporary buff that lasts for quite a while!
Elevator: You can upgrade your elevator's durability so that it lasts longer before breaking down. The elevator starts off with 3 uses. If you pick this perk it's upgraded to 5 uses.
Health Station: Your camp now comes packed with vitapods, health capsules, and remedies!
Munitions Station: Your camp now comes packed with all the vials, barriers, artillery strikes, recon flares, and mecha kits!
You pick one of these perks upon creating a camp, if you want to change it you have to recreate it.
Managing your Camp
If you don't move your camp and let the gate destroy itself, the camp kit will automatically be returned to your inventory, don't worry! You can relocate your camp at any time if you so desire. You can also "pack up" your camp which will also return the camp kit to your inventory. The elevator's durability will be remembered, don't think you can keep recreating camps to reset it!
You can only have 2 camps active at any given time, you can't make infinite camps!
Either way I think this would be interesting to see in SK. You're probably trying to think of loopholes to make this broken. If his was actually implemented im sure those problems won't be there heh. The intention of camps is to make exploring arcade a lot easier as it will be much easier to play a specific level and it will be a lot easier to return to a location!
The problem that this aims to solve is that rarities are kind of stuck down at the bottom of the clockworks. I.e. you want to put your camp on depth 26, with 2 arena/ct levels ahead of it, so that you can exchange a small amount of crowns for radiant fire crystals. That's great but given how cliff-hangery Dreams and Nightmares is and the new "tier 4" business going on I would expect new missions or otherwise that also solve your issue.
