I'd love to see something along those lines be implemented, For nothing more than pure cosmetic reasons. I'm currently using Ash Tail gear and the Silent Nightblade. Looks nice. But then there's my shield, Dark Thorn Shield, Kinda off sets the whole lot. Plus I've never seen a game that would let you use One one-handed weapon without any repercussions, Like loss of armor or damage.
