Hello people.

I've been playing SK for a long time, since 2013. In that timeframe, I have tried again and again to get into the merching community, but never with success as I either get one of two rare items, sell them or equip them, and either end up with no money, or over a Mil in crowns that I just do not know what to do with, usually with the money going into rolling on Punch. I do have some items that I would love to have in the long run, and being able to get them purely from merching has always been a goal in the back of my head. Typically, I make money buying and selling orbs on the AH, but that is pretty much all that I have done. In and of itself it is a pretty nice money-maker, making maybe 200k+ a month for little effort. But, I would like to build off of that and get into something new, something that can allow the process of making money to be more "automated." As I am going to college this year, I am not certain if I will have a lot of time to play the game, so this would make my life infinitely easier once I understand the merching process.

It is not that I am bad at watching the market and understanding prices, but using money past 500k that I have built up and turning it into, say, 2 mil, and so on and so forth by buying and flipping accessories has always been the point that I never get past. At this point I really do not like buying energy or promo boxes that typically get me nowhere, and in general I have always wanted to be able to make money in game rahter than spend money. I believe that I know how to read the AH pretty well, but just need a helping hand to boost that from being able to read it to being able to apply that and get the right accessories and such.

I guess what I am really trying to say is that I could use other people's help/coaching in terms of helping me to solidify money to spend and when and how to use it such that I don't lose money in the meantime. I definitely understand that it takes time to see how merching works and that it heavily relies on trial and error and experience, but if someone wants to take the time out of their day to help me for a little while,I hope that that can help me to move along a smoother path to becoming a solid merchant in the game that people can rely on.

If you do want to help, then please reach out to me. I would immensely appreciate it. Cheers.

Man I have trouble formulating my thoughts here.....

In case people want to know, I am not trying to sound super greedy or anything. I am mainly looking for advice on merching to get me going such that over time I can afford to get myself a nice costume set with some money left over to kick-start this as something that I can actively do in my spare time in college. This post is just worded a little bit oddly, as it was hard for me to express what I really mean.

Interesting....?

Please people, take the time to read what I post. I am NOT saying that I am going to sell them for that price, but rather being extremely optimistic as to inflation, mentioning that the prices could be extremely off. It was an example.
Again, I am using this post to ask for assistance, and giving an example of my thought process behind selling things from the perspective of someone who does not merch.

If your making a joke, cool cool and I am fine with that. But otherwise please consider that I am asking for help, not criticism or jokes.

Much better.

Reworked the original post a bunch. It should seem (I hope) more clear what I am asking for and the why to it.

used to be a legit play style

I always thought that merchanting was considered a legitimate way to enjoy the game. And over the years there have been threads giving advice about what to sell, how to set prices, etc. (Old threads might be obsolete now, because the economy has changed.) So I'm surprised that the original poster isn't getting more helpful responses. (I can't really give advice, because I'm not a merchant.)

Merchanting isn't too hard to

Merchanting isn't too hard to get into, it requires patience, good judgement, and a little luck. I'm happy to help answer any questions you may have, i've dabbled in merchanting for quite some time.

Initially it's sometimes good to focus on one area, like lockboxes, get to know all the different types, the people who open them, the people who sell them, know that community, as it can be quite different than people who buy weapons or accessories or other things. There are plenty of items in the game to buy/sell. Materials is another easy to flip area, buy low sell high, that's how it works. If you find someone needing a quick buck and is willing to sell an item below market value then it's a good deal for a merchant. But it's always a battle of having enough investment funds on hand and item stock. There are high reward items, like say dread wings, or high end accessories. Yes they fetch a pretty penny, but you won't find someone willing to pay top dollar for them everywhere you look, only when someone wants them for themselves to use will you get that, otherwise you'll get an average value. Not much in SK has really a 'set' value, it's all player driven, keep that in mind, and when the energy market changes sometimes prices adjust as well. Don't be afraid to ask around in haven or in the arcade discord if you already aren't in there for help with pricing, over time you'll get a feel for where things are at, but just remember, different people value just about EVERYTHING at a different price, you can ask 5 different people how much a mixmaster cost and you'll get values anywhere between 200-500k e for example... but hope that helps initially, happy to chat if you have any other specific questions.

Happy Merching~

Good Stuff

Thanks for the advice Lego. It is always nice for me to have another person's view on how to do these kinds of things. I think for now I will definitely follow your advice. I have started with some Lockboxes and a Recipe-Finding Service to help me make some money while I get some Vana gear leveled. I will also be heavily monitoring the AH for (hopefully) good deals. Should be able to build into lower-tier accessories fairly quickly, and then from there I imagine it is just trial and error with getting to know the more high-end accessories. Thanks a bunch, and I will definitely reach out to you if I have any questions.

Cheers.
