I think I speak for the majority of the SK community when saying this, the "autumn promotion" is a complete failure and letdown for everyone who plays this game. For the past 2 weeks everyone in the community has been hyping up either a wicked prize box or slumber prize box. It was something the community ACTUALLY wanted. The fact that our "community" managers didn't even listen to the community is straight disrespectful. Not to mention the fact that the autumn prize box is 3kE on the supply depot. Like what?? paying double the normal price of a prize box for a ~15% chance to make profit? That makes absolutely zero sense. The spiral knights economy depends on prize boxes that have the ability to be purchased with real currency. The greater the amount of boxes opened, the more available the items become for players. Releasing it on the depot is not only unfair to whales, but also general players. Especially before an event such as the Flash Sale, having an actual promotion where mass amounts of boxes are opened is nothing but beneficial to players.
More to my earlier point, the fact that you didn't release the prize boxes we expected/wanted was bad, and then you made them 3kE on the supply depot (which is even worse). Our community managers can't even meet the community half-way when it comes to this stuff. We get no content updates, no changes to broken weapons, and now we don't even get a fair chance at prize boxes.
Gray Havens, we literally want to give you money, but how do you expect us to do that when you can't even give us something to work with?

Keep in mind that Spiral Knights is built upon, and was even pitched towards, being about pricey super-rare high-end items.
It's this rarity that keeps everyone interested and involved. This idea of self-fulfillment through virtual items. There is a part of you that is missing, and that part can be fulfilled with an infinite amount of prize boxes- Have some plastic pills about Lacan and the follow up, which describes why we need this.
I'm of the opinion that their "wrongdoing" is the opposite of what you say. It would make sense for the creation of more mixmaster quality items, more hyper-rare items, more luxury goods for players to work towards but never reach. It is precisely this rarity of items that keeps players playing the game.

I had never heard of this issue, so I asked three of my friends in Spiral Knights what they thought of it, and they had never heard of it either.

Lol boop when they say the whole community they mean Mx. Fangel's corner of the spiral, which to be fair encompasses "the eos" and many other verbal players. They have a tendency to file dig and hype things, then show immense disappointment when their supposedly well founded predictions fail.
Naturally this leaves out a huge chunk of people that are relatively impartial.
There was hype when people realized it was Autumn Prize Box, but as soon as we realized it was Supply Depot Only and only for 11 days the hype died. I've only seen about 20-30 unboxings so far. No one is really opening the box in mass. At 2,995e it's 2x more expensive than buying the x14 offer they usually have.
They also put up some items that don't really make any sense. Iron Dragon Wings/Tail at 10mil starting bids? They're only worth 50ke and 20ke respectively going off of previous flash sales.
Not to mention they added yet another one-of-a-kind item.
