I like to run Ranked Mission 9-3: FireStorm Citadel with random players once in a while instead of the usual groups I hang out with. It makes for an interesting experience. It's also usually how I meet new players and gaming friends. Of course, not all of the runs with randoms make for a positive experience. Every once in a while. I do run into rude players in the mission lobby. You know the type ... the ones without the proper social/online etiquettes. They often say and/or do things that are completely inappropriate or just downright rude, generally ruining the experience for me and others involved.
Earlier today, I saw a lone player who goes by the name Death-Key, who has been waiting for a while in the LagStorm Citadel (LSC) lobby all by himself. Wanting to run with randoms, I invited the person to join my party. Shortly after, Death-Key accepts my invitation and joins. He's a Vanguard. I greeted him (probably a "he"). He doesn't greet me back, nor does he wave. Instead, the first thing he does, upon joining my lobby, is to inspect me, not that it would have given him much info since I always have my Full Inspect disabled.
To others, I appear as a Knight Elite (Rank 6-1) ... who is wielding a Voltedge and a Swiftstrike Buckler.
So that alone, right there, is an obvious giveaway that I am not the run-of-the-mill Knight-Elite.
Whereas Knight Elites don't have direct access to Ranked Mission 9-3, I do.
But anyway, I digress. Back on topic, he looks at my rank and then proceeds to say the following:

(Not sure whether this screenshot of the lobby and dialogue will display. In case it doesn't, see the dialogue below.)
Sent invitation to Death-Key.
Sent invitation to Vii-Memati.
(Vii-Memati joins.)
(Death-Key joins.)
Hello! Kikume greets Death-Key.
Vii-Memati: hi
Hello! Kikume greets everyone.
Death-Key: Yep as expected never take invite from strangers
Death-Key: This smells like mental arsonism
Death-Key: And I'm not partaking in this
(Death-Key leaves the party.)

Apparently, he passed a judgment based solely on my rank and decided that the reason for extending the invitation was to have me carried.
If that's what he suspected, he could have handled it in any number of ways that befit a Vanguard.
If his skills weren't up to par, if his equipment was inadequate, or if he just didn't want to invest 20-30 minutes of his time to run with someone through FireStorm Citadel (FSC) for what he perceived to be an ultimately futile mission or torture, he could have politely refused. Instead, he chose to be an asshat as evident in his response.
FYI, my reason for extending him an invitation was to run the mission as a team because I find Spiral Knights to be more enjoyable when played as a group rather than solo. I can comfortably carry a full team of 'deadweight' Vanguards all by myself through FSC/LS on Elite mode. I do not beg other players to run with me. Nor do I ask anything of them other than to do their best and have fun. After all, this is an MMO. But not all players share a similar mindset. There are always a few players who leave a very negative impression and dampen the fun. They're unavoidable.
Have you had a similar experience? If so, share your story. I would like to hear about them.
