How do you guys deal with Greavers in Undead and Fiend arenas?
It's not easy. Flowchart has already described my two tactics:
A. Spam Dark Briar Barrage, Nitronome, or similar bomb. It doesn't matter where you stand, but your timing is crucial. If you nail the first drop relative to the AI, then you might be fine. If not, then not.
B. Stand in a corner, swinging a sword out of the corner. The obvious choice is a piercing sword, shield-cancelled after the first stroke. But I've also done it with Divine Avenger (slow but okay), Brandish-style swords (narrow, quick enough, barely okay), etc.
the large moth/butterfly things ?
I found one way that works for me .
Using a Troika type ( that luckily got an Anti fiend UV @ medium ) and having a Seraphic helm (which also has anti fiend ) , add to that the anti fiend boost from the sprite. i just let them come to me. I try to get as many swings as i can. Usually the first swing knocks them back , then i can get them again with second swing. I just keep doing that. Using the charge attack is to slow.
Also helps to have the swift buckler.
-Wear valkyrie / divine mantle / snarby set
- Use a flourish and stand in the middle of the button as the last lumber/elite beast fall, you can keep a random mob alive and deal with all the turrets first thus controlling the spawn
-Pop all the barriers/orbs you have
-Pop your maskeraith (if you have one)'s hex
This is my tried and (mostly) true tactic in taking down the third arena's final wave. The combined damage between the orbs, hex and my flourish can usually wipe out the whole group.
Literally just stand in the middle and use any barrier -shock preferred- don't shield, don't attack, don't move, they'll just die.
When a new wave will spawn you can pre-charge electron vortex and drop it so they get caught in it when they spawn. This is especially effective on the final wave of an arena with 12 greavers (also works on other monsters ofcourse) if everyone in the party stands in the middle and waits for the greavers to fly into the vortex. Then just pop drakon scorching barrier or seraphynx laser or deadly shadow cloak and kill them all in 1 go.
For general clean up when greavers are all over the place, using a fast weapon like dread venom striker or warmaster rocket hammer let's you just swing away and they'll fly into your hits like magnets. DVS is fast enough to allow you to react to any attack they try on you and easily interrupt them (e.g. when one managed to slip past you and is now hitting you from behind), WRH kills the ones in front of you and because you dash forward you won't get hit by the ones behind you. So you won't take damage unless you walk into one of the status pools they drop. drakon fire barrier and barrier pick ups make it even easier.
DBB works too if you have like ultra or max ctr but I don't bother with it in arenas because the electron vortex is both easier and faster to kill them, and the vortex can deal with every arena regardless of which monsters actually spawn. DBB is effective in heart of ice because it is good against every monster in that mission, so it's viable as a main damage weapon. In arenas it can sometimes turn out to be a bit of a wasted weapon slot.
an easy way is to just stand in the middle and spam Dark Briar Barrage, maybe use a barrier or sprite skill first if you got them. need high enough ctr for this to work though
Could also stand in the corner and swing but that's lame
