I can't count the number of times that I've gotten to a subtown and decided to stop... only for somebody to join the party there and expect to move on. I also hate being on the other end of this, being the joiner. These situations could both be prevented if the party was automatically locked (with an announcement as such) when you enter a subtown, I think. If you still want to continue on and let people join, then you could simply unlock it again.

I also think it would be a good idea to lock people out of parties which have already started and progressed very far into a depth (not stratum). I can't count the number of times I've wasted energy joining a party which have almost finished a depth meaning i got no heat or crowns for my energy expended. This could severely stuff up rates especially for non-paying players who rely on energy trading. In this case it should be a timed lock out of after 15 secs that a party has started.
I remember several times where I've made some friends by the time we got to moorcroft manner. We were going to return to haven after chatting about weapons and techniques and such. Suddenly, my two-person party has two more players in it, both who joined to play tier 2 even though we had no intention of moving on. This forced me to go solo to use the elevator and exit to haven. autolocking the party in a subtown would solve this problem.
