Greetings, fellow Spiral Knights players!
Since I'd mentioned it in my previous forum post of Flash Sales Feedback Survey results (check that out if you haven't yet) that I had something more planned for the future, it's time for the not so grand reveal.
Introducing: Birdsong Event Co.
This is my new project in the works to bring more and more community events to you all in the year of 2025, and hopefully further. Let me explain!
For many years now, I'd been trying to host community events every so often, starting out with some in my guild, to some on The Snipe Garden, and a few more hosted via The Arcade and Kozma's Backpack discord servers, and the forums too. Some of you may remember, but a few years ago I had also run a survey about community events and what people would like to see, and have also been in contact with Grey Havens in funding some prizes for two of my art events (hosted in October 2024 and February 2023 each). Some of the public (non guild) events I've hosted include a Halloween Art Contest, Valentine's Day Art Contest, Hallow Costume Design Contests, Pride Costume Design Contest, etc.
However, a big roadblock for me in hosting events more consistently is time, ideas, helping hands, medium to host, and majorly funding. For those who don't know me, hi, I'm Sylvieon. I've been playing Spiral Knights free to play (except about 40$ for deluxe armor pack and guardians armor pack) since 2012. And I'm a fairly seasoned vana farmer when I have the time, but also not the richest player. And there comes the problem, where I have a plethora of event ideas I'd love to see brought to fruition for this community, and would also like to encourage and help other people in hosting their own events more. But the task of arranging prizes or hosting grand events with incentive to join in this already small community, attracting large participation, etc. is quite difficult to handle.
In the past, I would take the help of the staff from servers I moderate on, like Kozma's Backpack and The Arcade, and I'm eternally grateful to them. However it does also weigh on my conscience to be repeatedly asking the same few people to spare some crowns for an event or two or five.
Especially in terms of management of events, I tend to just fall back to plain and simple art contests, while finding the task of running more complex events like speedrun races, writing events, or my idea of a weekly challenges based system, to be difficult to host alone.
This leads me to the purpose of this project: Birdsong Event Co. aims to bring together likeminded individuals of the community with a passion to see events hosted together, for the sake of seeing them brought to light. This may be either through event hosts themselves, people who would like to assist in management of events, or even generous financial or prize investors to them, whether it be directly or indirectly to maintain anonymity.
The server for this is still under setup, and the logistics are yet to be discussed, since this is a group effort and I do not wish to do things alone on the off chance that it goes against the community's wishes. However as of now, anyone and everyone who wishes to help out in some way, whether it be getting started with the event hosting or setup, or to just look around and see what's up, is welcome to join here: https://discord.gg/HMY56AEk5x
I hope to get things up and running, and a variety of events rolling out throughout this year shortly, so any help or feedback is greatly appreciated.
Keep your eye out for more news, and thank you all for reading. Happy new years, and let's hope for a great 2025.
Put more informally and in short, it's a server for event hosting, planning, coordination, helping and funding. WTB help.
