All heart pendants but true love locket got lowered by one health pip and star lvl.
This seems pointless AND it means that true love lockets which you can only get as a rare drop from a rare enemy are now the new maximum.
Why the heart pendant nerf?
I am less upset by the nerf itself, more with making true love lockets the new maximum.
The more "endgame" gear is prize box loot or incredibly rare drops, the more annoyed I am.
It was weird, that the Penta-Heart Pendant gave six hearts instead of five. But it is surprising, that this minor quasi-issue was deemed worthy of a "fix".
My sense is that the designers have been trying to stretch out the end of the game --- ever since Radiants became scarce, actually. In the old days, we would all race to get 5-star items, easily heated to heat level 10, and then we would finish the game. Now, we get 5-star armor quickly, but we don't upgrade 4-star weapons to 5 stars until we've amassed most of the Radiants they need, and we don't heat 5-star armor until way after that. And somewhere in there we've already finished the game. I think that we're supposed to beat up Vanaduke using 4-star weapons.
Similarly, we're supposed to be content with 3-star Black Kat armor, which is nearly as good as 5-star Black Kat armor. And we're supposed to be content with Penta-Heart Pendant, which is nearly as good as True Love Locket. Getting the absolute best stuff is supposed to take a loooong time.
I am not defending this stretching out. I'm merely trying to understand it.
But like I said, what annoys me are the rare drops. If it took a hundred hours of grinding to get the special new thingamabob, but I could actually make progress by gathering tokens or materials or whatever instead of either praying to RNGesus or grinding for crowns (it's FSC, it is always FSC, I can see those smouldering halls whenever I close my eyes like a burnt-in afterimage, please make it stop) and hoping another player is willing to sell, I would be far less dissatisfied.
Yes, I agree that it would be nice to take the randomness out of some of the item drops. Like maybe if you save up 1,000 (or 10,000) Ancient Pages then you should be able to buy a Wicked Whisker with them.
Or at least it would be nice to know the chances, so that you could estimate how many tries you might need. I've been playing since the game launched, and I've seen a fair number of love puppies, but I've never seen a True Love Locket drop, and I don't even know if that's unusual.
I don't mean to be that guy but if you're having difficult staying alive with 2 less pips of health, I think it's a skill issue at that point (minus the obvious lag spikes).
The REAL nerf to this is having to get TLLs for GOLD health in Shadow Lairs
