Characters on an account are

Characters on an account are separated by payments; if you make a single paid CE transaction on each character, their energy reserves are separated forever. It's an anti-abuse measure.

i think the OP wants to

i think the OP wants to triple his play time without paying.

Create 3 hotmail accounts for free.
Create 3 steam accounts with those emails for free.
Create 3 game accounts with those 3 steam accounts.

Problem solved.

Actually...

Even with 3 accounts you would need 3 computers. The "system" looks at the lowest amount of mist that was on the computer last when you log in and takes into account the time you've been logged out to calculate your ME currently. I figured this out when my computer died and jumped onto my wifes laptop and she had just finished crafting for the day (0 ME), when I logged on I had 0 ME as well and hadnt played in almost 24hrs.

Now if you had 3 computers you could also make 3 seperate knights on one main account, but you can never play any of those knights on the same computer or the ME will be linked. (says so in the Wiki)

Best suggestion...spend $2.95 per character and have them all seperated like that...its easiest and gets you the benefits for under $10.

@myou

Are you sure your wife hasnt been playing your account? I think you should complain about missing ME then. When I was playing and down to 0 ME and started burning CE to farm for more money on the laptop. My sister says she wants to play too and I logout and pass the laptop to her and jump onto the desktop. We started playing together and went all the way down to depth 8 from 1 without any complaints about her having no ME.

ME or CE?

If I pay the $3.06 for each character, will they have seperate mist energy as well then?

Quote the Wiki - "Never More"

I dont think she was playing my account...but if it wasnt ME I'd complain, but missing out on one day of playing and just remembering to keep the log ons seperate makes sure we never have that issue. Below is a quote from the Wiki...this should help everyone figure out about sharing accounts with mist energy:

Sharing ScenariosThe purpose of this section is to educate users as to how the Energy sharing between multiple accounts work. A maximum of three accounts may be created on a single computer. Three accounts will be used as examples:

Account A (paid)
Account B (free)
Account C (free)
One Computer with Free Accounts
This is the most commonly observed scenario when there is a household shared computer. In this case all free accounts used will share Mist Energy as if they are the same person. If you log on at another computer the system will default to the player with the least amount of Energy. For example, if the owner of Account B has played on Computer B goes to play on the Computer of Account C that computer's Mist Energy reserve will default to whatever Account B had left.

One Computer with Paid and Free Accounts
This is the scenario that allows two people to share a computer and not worry about sharing Mist Energy. Account A and Account B can play on the same computer indefinitely and never share Mist Energy. However, if Account C is introduced to the same computer it will share Mist Energy with Account B only.

Two Computers with Free Accounts
Account B and Account C will not share Mist Energy if they are always used on their own distinct computers. It does not matter if these computers are on the same home network. If one account user logs on using the other computer then system will treat it as multiple free accounts on the same computer and follow the outlined example.
