no matter what i do and how many times i re-install the game,it will prompt the log-in for the stand-alone version
after the 2026-03-11 update i can no longer log-in on steam

I do have the same problem as Bookplz, and i'm sorry to inform that it still prompts me to log with account and password
(I'm afraid to not get the account back soon enough before my trades in the message box goes pooff by the 30 day deletion policy...)

Okay, it seems to work but there is a trick for Linux users
If you use Steam on Linux, you may have something called Proton to do some tech-magic and make some games compatible, but as long as you have Proton enable, you won't get the latest update Cronus talked about
For Linux users still having the issue, try to disable Proton (Right click on the game in you game library > Properties > Compatibility > Disable the checkbox), the next time you play the game it will fetch the latest update with the Cronus fix
(and ma crown are safe btw ^^)

On my side there's no "Login with Steam" button, only the ACCOUNT NAME, ACCOUNT PASSWORD, and Login as Guest. Also it seems that "Steam" tab with voicechat etc. got removed from the settings menu

Thank you to Micro-Onde for sharing that tip. Disabling the Proton Hotfix for Spiral Knights is indeed a known workaround for Linux users still experiencing the login issue after the recent fix.
