Hey! Just wanted to come on here to say just how much I love Spiral Knights. One of my first PC games as a child, and now I've decided to come back at it and play it a lot more now. However, trying to progress by crafting 5-star gear is such a pain trying to get Orbs of Alchemy, with how the difficulty spike is in this game (I'm around 8-2).

Other than farming crowns to get energy and grinding the arcade, what is there to do? I don't think I've explored this game enough to figure it out yet. But all I ask is just an update that makes it so crafting 5-star gear (or any gear for that matter) takes 2 or even 1 Orbs of Alchemy to make

Just a little ramble, if any of these devs see I would love you guys to consider it!
For anyone else, what else can I do in this game, since i'm a bit stuck?

Buy some from the depot :) e prices are very low comparatively and its never been cheaper to buy orbs. Definitely wish orb drops were a bit more deterministic though...

The guild Lancer Knightz has a data collection project (which seems inactive now, but still relevant). You might be interested in their data about which missions give which Orbs of Alchemy:

But yes, Witelite is right: The default way is to earn crowns, buy energy with them, and buy Orbs with that energy. Finding Orbs in the Clockworks is something that you should view as a pleasant surprise.
