I hope GH has a plan for keeping it warm.
The Hype for the Revival of the Game is cooling down
The hype shouldn't yet have started because nothing substantial has been changed with the game. The economy changes were neat, and balance changes (if they ever happen) will be very nice, but the game is in dire need of content.
The amount of people willing to pay attention to the unrealized potential of a revival despite nothing actually happening yet is proof there's always been an audience for this game, which is testament to the impact SK had before its development stagnated post-2014.
It's got to be the lack of a roadmap for me. Should go without saying that a large contingent of us have a lot of thoughts about the game as it is currently, but the main one is "what are we sticking around for?"
I don't need new stuff. Some things would be nice, but I just hope it doesn't get botched and the servers keep running, that's all.
At the moment I have multiple workaround for keybind issues and I can't reconnect to the party, when my client dies unexpectedly. I'd rather not have more problems added and in exchange no new stuff.
If more problems occur, it will start to become exhausting.
A roadmap would quell a lot of our uncertainty, but our devs have told us that they're working on a weapon rebalancing update which should scratch the content itch that a lot of players have been having. Also, I think it should be re-stated that the devs are not working on SK full-time (at least to my knowledge), so they are likely tackling one update at a time and not thinking about what to do next until after. I think there are some great hints at what may come after the weapon re-balancing, such as player-created PvE missions, and I think that the devs are working to keep the ball rolling while the game has gotten this breath of fresh air. We have something to go on, and while it's not a roadmap, it's something.
@Zosu
I wouldn't worry about servers shutting down. They just opened new ones and they wouldn't have done that if they were running out of ideas. It's clear to me that the devs and the GMs are trying to revive the game rather than let it lay stagnate. New stuff will be coming, and even though you may not need it, a lot of players do.
@Gustim - I'm glad you did restate that, because I wasn't aware! That explains some things I've been wondering about.
One of my fantasies is that SK becomes so popular that the devs make enough money to work on it full time. And if there's anything we can do to help out, devs, let us know *wink wink*
It hinges on what they how they perform with their first real gameplay content update. They've alluded to a balance update and level creation is likely to extend to PvE.
