Doubt i can ask for a refund at this point, but, cmon, at least, something to compensate?
Also, keep cooking GH, you are doing great.

You're not telling us the most important detail though. When did you buy it? If it was recently I could understand, but if you bought it months or years ago then you had access much earlier than the people who are only getting it now, which means you had exclusivity.
People had a similar reaction when they bought Team Fortress 2 or CSGO before those games became free to play. I'm aware that in CSGO they gave those people a unique badge, however here we're talking about a DLC.
I also bought it. I view it less as paying for content in general and more of paying for the right to access content before everyone else. I'm glad it's free for everybody now.
It probably doesnt have to be much literally a cosmetic would actually suffice since it'll still say "yeah i had OCH before it was free" type stuff
While I understand some might feel a bit cheated to have bought the DLC only for it to go free, I look at it as: we helped pave the way to make it accessible to all players. Maybe not as much as the whales, but if GH is able and willing to make something that was paywalled before free now, then I'm glad to have helped them afford to make that choice.
That said, a small reward for when it was paywalled would be nice. What I would like is two-fold: one, a new artifact for those who purchased the DLC, something small and lore related to those who stormed the walls and disabled the guns first in the fight against Seerus. And two, a way to show it off in the inspect page. Some players have a few artifacts, and it's nice to have in your own collection, but it'd be even more neat to have more artifacts in the game to collect like trophies and have your favorite one on display if someone inspects you. Especially since some are unobtainable now. Just for bragging rights.
I bought the expansion at launch and I'm happy to see more people gain access to it. Throw them a lion heart blade too, I really don't care.
Rather than having sour grapes that others get to play it, I do lament the declaration there won't be more paid expansions like it. "Buy more game for a few bucks" was the healthiest business model this game ever had.
As someone who earned all the CR to trade for the CE to buy it back in the day, I definitely think it would be cool... but I understand the current team isn't very large and is working on other stuff.
On the flip side it would be appreciated to receive something even if it's just a reskin shield with the Seerus logo slapped on it
"I do lament the declaration there won't be more paid expansions like it."
Sensible argument, I do not lament that, I do however, like the Idea of more Free expansions!
It's funny, actually - when I was discussing this with a buddy elsewhere, he reminded me that this has happened to me twice before. I remember getting The Sims 4 shortly before it was made "free" and all of the Payday 2 DLC when it was cheap - shortly before starbreeze decided to give everyone a chance to grab it for nothing. I guess sometimes you just wind up in the middle of changes.
Honestly? Even though I don't think for a DLC this inexpensive it's entirely necessary, if there had to be anything, I think a shield skin would work great. Maybe a crimson order crest shield, like the darkfang one. Maybe you get a ticket for it. Or a badge cosmetic marking you as part of the "first brigade" or whatever. The real problem is whether or not GH actually tracked who bought it and when. I don't know, I don't think it's a huge problem. Loyalty bonuses are nice, but I think I'd rather let 'em get on with the work they're already doing. Hopefully. Maybe.
Sent support an email on the 2nd of July regarding this. I had bought the expansion a week and a half before it became free, as I was craving new content I hadn't completed yet after having come back to the game with my hard earned Energy by grinding through the mines of Vanaduke. No reply 25 days later...
I bought it early this Year, as a Compensation I would Like another Free for Everyone expansion... In fact I demand it, Because!
XD
on a more serious Note, thanks AGAIN, for making accesible for everyone...
