Before anything else, Id just like to say that I do not think it was the best decision to have this be in the Preview Servers for *1 Day* before bringing it to Live Servers. I cannot access the Preview Servers, but they are designed to showcase and test things before they come to Live Servers, and in some regard, I feel as if most feedback from the community was brushed under the rug and this update was forced out.
Anyways, Id also like to just give my thoughts on the event, even if it is early on, since I played the last way entire through so I do have some perspective onto how the event feels; and personally, it feels worse compared to before.
The addition of spikes being able to be thrown is really cool and fun, it provides a new way of interacting with Mysterious Spikes that was not seen before. I would like to add that one thing IS an issue though, and that is the fact that the frequency of Mysterious Spike spawns makes it so you cannot reasonably pick up multiple Mysterious Spikes before an enemy gets to them. I think the easiest and best fix for this is making it so Mysterious Spikes can stack as a throwable item, and provide additional thrown projectiles while thrown (think of the bullet spread that Gun Puppies have when shooting multiple bullets).
I also want to take a moment to talk about the antiAlt-Farming stuff they added. I hate Alt-Farming, and I think it is a bane upon this game's balance and design choices since many things have to take forever to get otherwise they become too profitable with Alt-Farming. Implementing the throwing mechanic as a way of dealing with this does help a bit and I am glad it is there, but I have to question the grind... If the intent was to reduce Alt-Farming, surely you can also take the time to reduce the grind as well? It feels weird how that aspect of the event remained unchanged when it really, really should be changed.
TLDR;
~ Grind was artificially made longer to combat Alt-Farming.
~ Did not reduce the grind in other areas to encourage players to actually play the event as intended.
~ Spikes being throwable is cool but it's unfortunate that they did not account for multiple Mysterious Spikes being present at one time.
Id also like to state that conceptually, a lot of these concepts are cool, and I think the event still has a ton of potential; it would be cool to see different colored spikes have different effects based on the Spike Storm's target Monster Group. There is definitely some positive in there, but I think right now it gets outweighed by all of the negatives.
There is already a pretty big thread where other players are making similar points. You might find more responses there. Cheers.
