Introduction:
With the first Spike Event a change was made that most people probably did overlook due to a new event being introduced and a new weapon being added into the game.
The change that happened was making the stun status more consistent and have it feel less ,,janky". Now, this instantly connects this change to the best way to deliver a status to a crowd of enemies: Mist Bombs.
But as for the stun status mist bomb, it is the only one that is locked behind PvP modi that are barely even played anymore to begin with. However, this is not a thing exclusively to the stun bomb (aside from the 2 star version), but with a large number of gameplay relevant weapons and accessoirs that most players probably never even aquired, because their ties to a system that is heavily avoided by most.
So I suggest to give alternative ways to obtain the gameplay-relevant items exchanged by Krogomocoins like the recipies.
While on that topic, I also thought about...
-...how to maintain a higher value in Krogomo-recipies than other recipies while making them independent to the existing PvP modi...
-...and also ways to make PvP more accessible, since I believe that some PvP fans are equally unhappy with the current situation...
-...and how to keep PvP players with something unique, while not interfering with actual gameplay.
Because as things stand right now, the only real way to farm Krogomocoins/ Krogomo-recipies is to create 3 alts and farm them by playing against yourself, which is far from the intended way.
And even switching around to any of the 4 different regions does not get you into any matches for the most time, even if you were to ignore the lags that come with it.
In this Post I am suggestion alternate options to obtaining the currently PvP-only recipies. Please note that it is a collection of various different suggestions, which are not necessarily meant to be in effect at the same time.
.
.
Option 1: Play PvP content as PvE with KI enemies instead of actual enemy players
. . . - This could be one of the 3 currently existing PvP modi like Brawler, Lockdown or Bomberman
. . . - Or/And this could introduce a new special Tower-Defense-style mode against waves of enemies that become stronger
. . . . . and stronger and increase their numbers more and more with higher waves.
. . . . . . - Monsters could come with a variety of different status effects, even within the same wave, or buffs and powerups like
. . . . . . . . Attack-Up, Def-Up, or Spike-event-Spikes (note that spiked enemies will not drop any spikes here.)
. . . . . . - Some enemies could also completely ignore players and just try to rush through
. . . . . . - Players are restricted to the classical PvP ,,shields" and revive system
. . . . . . - Wheather monsters here should drop actual loot or not is a debate for another topic
. . . - Matches with KI-enemies could optionally also be played with other players actually involved, too
. . . . . . - KI-enemies could either act as a mere filler for the classic PvP modi here..
. . . . . . - or KI-enemies could act as a new team to compete against.
. . . - Krogomo coins reward could be either related to classical win:2, loss:1, but it could also dependent on how high you score
. . . . . (higher score for more coins)
.
.
Option 2: Krogomo coins could be part of a new Krogomo Event in which Krogomo coins drop as the special currency
. . . - Like Cakes Tokens, Ancient Pages or Apocrean Sigils during their respective events.
. . . - For convenience, there could be a new smaller currency in play like Krogomo Shards for example, whose you need
. . . . . multiple of to convert it into a Krogomo Coin.
.
.
Option 3: Allow to trade Krogomo Coins for existing Tokens
. . . - For Event Tokens (Ancient Pages, Apocrean Sigil, Cake-tokens, etc)
. . . - Boss Tokens (Almirian Seal, Bark Modul, Frumious Fang, Jelly Gem)
.
.
Option 4: Krogomo Coins drop additionally to normal Event Tokens during events
. . . - During any event in Spiral Knights, all sources that drop Event tokens would also get a chance to
. . . . . additionally also drop a Krogomo Coin.
. . . - The chance for Krogomo Coins to drop will be a small chance that varies depending on the event in question.
. . . . . . - This means that dropping a Krogomo Coin along Ancient Pages has a significant higher chance than along Apocrean Sigils
.
.
Option 5: Make all Krogomo-Recipies tradeable
. . . - There surely are people who play PvP a lot and have tons of Krogomo Coins without a use for them.
. . . - Make Krogomo Recipies tradeable to allow PvP players to share their gains with non PvP players.
.
.
Option 6: Have Krogomo stuff drop inside the Clockwork
. . . - Rarely, recipies and/or Krogomo Coins could drop randomly from enemies inside the Clowckwork/Arcarde.
.
.
Option 7: Krogomo-Recipies could be bought from Basil for more Crowns than other recipies.
. . . - To maintain a higher value, there could be stricter and more special conditions attached than what we currently have in order for
. . . . . Basil to offer these recipies.
. . . . . . - example: Basil in depth 4 will always have a random bound 3-star-Krogomo recipy, if you started a run in Haven without
. . . . . . . . interruption and reached Basil without ever reciving even a single point of damage at any moment.
. . . . . . - example: Basil in depth 13 will always have a random bound 4-star-Krogomo recipy, if you started a run in Haven without
. . . . . . . . interruption and without ever dying. (This means never losing your emergency revive)
. . . . . . - example: Basil in depth 23 will always have a random bound 5-star-Krogomo recipy, if you started a run in Haven without
. . . . . . . . interruption and without ever dying. (This means never losing your emergency revive)
.
- Now adding to Option 7, this allows for a variety of different challenges, conditions and handicaps that players can challenge themselves with. With those conditions in play, Krogomo Recipies will remain a higher value while still making PvP a viable alternative. But on the other side, it still allows an alternative way to obtain these recipies.
.
- Certain recipies could require specific conditions to be met, while other recipies could require a different set of conditions to be necessary to be met. And meeting conditions for multiple recipies would cause Basil to offer multiple recipies.
.
- So down below is a list of possible ,,conditions" that need to be fulfilled in order for Basil to offer a Krogomo recipy. Note that any condition automatically fails, if the run is interrupted at any point (like going back to haven and join later) and only runs count, which started from either Haven or a subtown (personally I prefer for all of them to be ,,start from Haven" exclusively). Note that multiple of these conditions could be in effect at the same time:
. . . - Untouchable: Never lose a single point of health.
. . . - Invincible: Never lose the emergency revive.
. . . - Marathon: Reach Basil after starting the run from the Haven Lobby without interrupting the run or join in later.
. . . - Classic: Never have a Battle Sprite equipped, never Dash, never Shield Bash, do not have any weapon equipped in weapon
. . . . . slot 3 or 4, do not have any of the 4 accessoir slots filled at any point within the run.
. . . - Untamed: Never have a Battle Sprite equipped.
. . . - Restricted Movement: Never Dash or Shield Bash.
. . . - Accessoryless: Never have anything equipped within your 4 accessory slots.
. . . - 2 Weapon Slots: Never have any weapon equipped in Weapon Slot 3 or Weapon Slot 4.
. . . - One Loadout: Never change the initial equipment. (You can still switch between different weapon in different weapon slots
. . . . . that you brought along, but the condition fails, if you unequip any piece of equipment)
. . . - Shiny: Reach Basil while the total sum of Valestone plus Moonstone collected in this run is X pieces.
. . . . . . - Possibly, Basil could ask for Valestone or Moonstone instead of Crowns, which could also allow the Mineral Depot again.
. . . - Elite: Reach Basil while the difficulty is Elite.
. . . - Killer: Reach Basil after you killed at least X enemies in this run.
. . . - Shieldless: Never have a Shield equipped.
. . . - Weaponless: Never have any of the 4 Weaponslots filled with a weapon in this run.
. . . - Alone?: (Not sure about this one, since it conflicts with Spiral Knights being a multiplayer game) Reach Basil while at
. . . . . no point there was another player in this run.
. . . - Cooperative: Conditions need to be met by each player who joins the run. If one player fails a certain condition,
. . . . . then it fails for everyone in this run.
. . . - Without Equipment X: Reach Basil while never having a specific Weapon, Shield, Accessory, Armor or Helmet equipped.
. . . . . . - Which piece of equipment that is, shall be decided at another place.
. . . . . . - Different recipies could ask for different pieces of equipment to be denied.
