If two identical weapons with identical UVs are equipped, you cannot switch between them to reset the weapon attack cycle timer if attacking fast enough. All examples only use the 1st swing of the weapon, 2nd and 3rd swing never used.
Example - glitched behavior: weapon 1 = brandish asi med, weapon2 = brandish asi med
- weapon 1 attack
- shield cancel
- equip weapon 2
- weapon 2 attack
- shield cancel
- equip weapon 1
- weapon 1 attack
- shield cancel
- equip weapon 2
- weapon 2 attack**
**4th attack will not activate, cannot attack again until the game's internal weapon attack cycle timer has reset. Weapon 2 only attacked twice, but the game treats it as if it attacked thrice.
Example 2 - normal behavior: weapon 1 = brandish asi med, weapon 2 = brandish asi med + some other UV
-weapon 1 attack
-shield cancel
-equip weapon 2
- weapon 2 attack
- shield cancel
- equip weapon 1
- weapon 1 attack
- shield cancel
- equip weapon 2
- weapon 2 attack
- shield cancel
- equip weapon 1
- weapon 1 attack
- and so on -> can attack indefinitely this way, game properly resets each weapon's individual attack cycle timer upon switching out to the other weapon
Example 3 - normal behavior: weapon = brandish asi med
- attack
- shield cancel
- attack
- shield cancel
- attack
- shield cancel
- attack**
**4th attack here will not activate, but this is expected since the weapon was never switched. Cannot attack again until the weapon's attack cycle timer resets or if switch weapon out.
Notes:
- in example 1, with the weapon wheel active, the game clearly switches between the two identical weapons (weapon wheel moves to match), but the actual underlying attack logic behaves as if no switch occurred like example 3, and blocks the 4th attack from activating.
- testing was done with keyboard keys explicitly mapped to weapon 1 and weapon 2. prev and next weapon control settings were not used.
Whenever GH has been made aware of a cool, maybe unintenional trick in the game that makes it more fun (eg. "flash charge"), they have "fixed" it by removing it, making the game bland and boring. They don't understand it can be fun to do well timed key combos like in arcade fighting games to perform special attacks. So the first rule about switch club is: Don't talk about switch club.
I personally don't switch, but ppl mentioned to me they would likely quit when switching gets patched out.
