From my findings, Oilers are now resistant to elemental damage.
According to the wiki, they should be neutral to elemental damage

Fire is more of an elemental thing?
Fire sure doesn't pierce, maybe wiki just needs updates.
Is this based on the color of the text from when you hit them, or from the actual amount of damage they take? The text for damage has pretty well always been bugged.
