The first wave of the first

The first wave of the first room of an arena always spawns two gun puppies of some flavor and four of some other enemy. I think you're exaggerating a bit on the number of greavers you were fighting... And greavers are kind of BS, true, but they're killable.

You'll do better next time

You'll do better next time ;)
Impossible seems a bit strong since many experienced players will tell you they can solo it without being hit even once... [I'm not one of those BTW]
Do you have adapted weapons ?
Do you generally have issues killing greavers, or just in that arena ?

sometimes it just helps to

sometimes it just helps to rambo the stuffing out of things. you see a stack of flamethrower guys - shielding is just gonna get you lag-locked on their flames, breaking your shield. sometimes the better option is to forsake 2hp for the sake of 20. and yes, sure some players can masterfully solo everything without being hit, some people have almost no lag etc, but the truth of it, most people cant, and most people do.
best thing i find for grievers is a med/fast hitting sword and then just go bezerk on them all (kill gunpuppies last) - fausts and whatnot are somewhat risky to use, considering their knockback is almost useless in the case of grievers, seeing as how they fly back within like half the time it takes to recover...

Greavers

The first thing to do when fighting greavers is to remember to stay calm. Don't panic and run, don't panic and rush into them slashing. Let them come to you, and give them a slash before they can fire off their attack. This interrupts the attack and forces them to start over, giving you time to slash another greaver, slash the same one a second time, or just move to a more favorable position to receive the next attack. A flourish or snarble barb works particularly well, due to both the piercing damage and the wide range of the initial slash. If several greavers are coming at you from different directions, back off a bit to try to bunch them up. A shield bounce can work very well on greavers you miss with the first slash.

Best swords for greavers are

Best swords for greavers are of the flourish line, fast, knockback on first swing, wide range and they deal super effective damage to them.

Divine Avenger: Swing once

Divine Avenger: Swing once forward, swing twice backward, dead bats all around.

If you miss, though... you're dead meat.

Greavers are one of the

Greavers are one of the easier mobs; all you have to remember is that they don't finish their attack if you hit them first. Just keep swinging and they'll never do anything. If you try to charge your weapon, shield or run away, you're going to get hit.

People tend to panic when attacked by them because it looks like you're surrounded and as good as dead they swarm, when in reality they don't actually do anything for 1-2 seconds after they reach you.

eh i said faust cos its the

eh i said faust cos its the first weapon on my chain. Faust, Divine Avenger, Ash of Agni. i did say "faust and whatnot", hopefuly someone picked up my vague meaning of "slow 2hit sword line, as well as kamarins which are a pain in the ass to use on fast enemies who would shock you, and mess you up if you were not fast enough to obliterate them before they got their hit in", failure in communication on my end.
anyway, ive never been able to OHKO grievers with my DA.. so how exactly do you do it? (unless of course if you have a "MAXIMUM!" damage+ UV count vs beasts..)

strike needle

Greavers are awesome. I can kill two or three at once with a full strike needle clip if they line up just right.

I don't have damage vs beasts but think about it. I'm good. I can kill slag walkers in 1-5 hits.

You guys are right, I

You guys are right, I shouldn't panic, but I was playing gunslinger/bomber... And these aren't your average T2 greavers... they're not going to faint to one DA swing... I have a DA btw...

whatever weapon you choose to solo these, just remember they stay close to you 90% of the time

I love all the assumptions

I love all the assumptions the "helpful" posts above make...

For one thing, greavers cannot be fought with shields if there are more than 3-4 of them. No shield will survive the damage, and bumping them away does not work.

For another, "Lolchargeattacks!" is a pretty stupid thing to say if you've ever fought a greaver. Unless you have max UV CTR, once the greaver is already on you you're not getting a weapon charge off before they attack... especially if there are alot of them.

And finally, with the right sword it is pretty easy to plow through them if you don't panic and just go berserker-rage on them... but god help you if you use a gun other than Needler.

1: Shield-bouncing Greavers

1: Shield-bouncing Greavers does in fact work, it's one of the few ways to easily fend them off.

2: Attacking a Greaver while it's diving negates it's attack and leaves it ''stunned''.

There, Greavers are now one of the easiest monsters you'll ever fight, regardless of Tier or number of Greavers. Have fun and be sure to practice, kids!
