I'd like to use a passphrase instead of a password, but the limit of 12 characters is not enough. "To sleep, perchance to dream - of SK" ... You don't have to make it required, just available to those who want to use it. :)

Huh? My password is longer than that "limit". You might be tripping up on the comma.
