Limited Pet System?

Okay, I know it's a huge idea. Pet systems are complicated and no doubt difficult to add to a game that's already in existence; plus this is a weapon/dungeon based game and a typical pet system would disrupt the theme. But say the SK crew introduced a specialized pet system where the pets acted as, say, weapons — small creatures, robotic or otherwise, that can be "bred" or made via recipes and used in the Clockworks as gear? It would be like introducing a new level of weaponry into the game, and would be different from a traditional pet system.

I imagine this would add a lot to the game, particularly for those who find it gets boring after a certain amount of time. Say the pets could be bred, sold, and specialized — this might add even more color to the game.

I'm eager to hear what other people think of this suggestion.

Why are people so obsessed with pets?

If you want AI allies then why not expand the already existing Mecha Knight concept? Add various types of Mecha Knights (with various elements, weapons etc.) and have them strewn across the stages (and reduce the cost, 5 nrg is ridiculous). Much simpler than a pet system.

i think it would add alot to the game

i think this would be a great i dea i know it would be hard but the game gets lonely if your doing solo and itll be cool to show off ur pet and make it gear and such i know its a huge i dea but it would be awesome. you could also maby get them by doing a certain dungen and taming a creature in a special lvl or somethin.

Goremand: Why are people so obsessed with pets?

It's true that the gaming community seems to have an obsession with pets, but at the same time there are a lot of draws to a pet system — non-player companionship, additional help in dungeons, and infinitely more in-game depth.

I agree that expanding the Mecha Knight concept is a lot simpler.... and in general that's what I'm getting at. I say limited pet system because it could detract from the heart of the game to add the traditional pet system, but say Mecha Knights were made more creaturelike, in designs that players might find cute, attractive, cool, etc., and sold as weaponry like swords and guns, rather than strewn randomly through the Clockworks?

There would obviously have to be limits such as high cost, or limiting the fighting power of the pets, but in general I think modifying the Mecha Knight system would be a good way to incorporate that.
