A neat addition to the spiral knights game would be a spectator mode, where you could just watch your friends do the clockwork and not have to spend the energy to join them. It would be just like the spectator-like-mode that happens when you die, except you wouldn't have to join them and waste the energy.

People are always complaining about the energy prices being too high or mist recharging too slowly, so this'd be awesome to have. And, I hate seeing my friends get to depth 28 of the Firestorm Citadel gate and the only thing I can do is say 'good luck', not being able to watch them and help them out with tell-based alerts. Possible crown sink?

I wouldn't mind if you had to join the party to "go observer" and pay a significant crown fee. The crown fee should be refunded if the party leader kicks you within the first, say, 10 minutes.

This would be fun, for me at least, as i sometimes have free time on my hands and want to play but dont want to play at the same time. also a great alternative to snipe herding!
