Binding Existing Spiral Knights Account with Steam Questions

I have a few questions about the Steam binding.

-Do I have to Un-Install SK & Install it back in the Steam Page or can I just install the Steam version & it'll overwrite it?
-If I Un-Install SK, will my Character(s) be Deleted?
-Can I still earn the Steam Mask?

2: No.. since the characters are stored on OOO servers.

-Can I Invite Steam users who have already played SK?
-Will I get my Mask in Mail or will it just appear in my Arsenal?
