Hi,

I've only been playing a few days and have noticed the latency steadily rising to a point now over the past two days where it's going to cost me serious money to have enough energy to run through the game.

Could we have some sort of dedicated server with a small monthly fee that could maybe include some energy aswell.

I love this game, it's the first SEGA title I have played laboriously since Phantasy Star Online(in its many different ports) and it would be ashame to let poor latency put me off playing any more.

Some info to add(if anyone is wondering why I have lag):

Have tried both clients(standalone and browser launched) - Re-installed standalone client
Opened up the ports listed on Tech Support
Location: United Kingdom

Sorry, but this sound too

Sorry, but this sound too "elitism" to me.
I mean, I understand what you are saying, yeah the lag really ruins my playtime when it attacks, but adding a better server service for those who pay, and leave a "weak" server for those who don't, is basically ignoring those non-payer players.

This has a very "separate but

This has a very "separate but equal" sounding attitude and would probably not be received too well by all the free-to-play individuals out there. :P

Let me re-iterate

There's nothing elitist about wanting more than a "sub-standard" service in exhange for a nominal fee, it's the way the world works.

Nothing in life is free, I don't much fancy trading my sanity every minute I play in Lagsville.

Really? Don't you think

Really? Don't you think they're probably planning to upgrade the servers to handle the unexpectedly large popularity of the game anyways? You know, so then the servers will be better for everyone.

The only reason anyone could want separate pay-to-play servers is if they think there's something intrinsically wrong with the free-players, and let me tell you; from what I've seen the only difference between free-players and people who dump twenty bucks or so into the game is that the latter players get their higher-tier loot -sooner- and think they know everything. I can't tell you how many people I've seen walking around with 5* gear who still play like absolute noobs, but the fact that they're all so quick to label most of the weapons in the game as "worthless" is a pretty clear indicator of their lack of skill.

I can't see any announcements

I can't see any announcements on server upgrades/expansion so I assumed things would stay the way they are like most browser/F2P games.

And like I stated before, I've only put money in to extend my playtime through energy, I'm learning things myself but when lag gets me killed it costs more energy to revive myself If I want to keep playing, and you see the thing is about good games like this is I WANT TO KEEP PLAYING!

So how would this proposed

So how would this proposed members-only server system work? Would there be a threshold? Would somebody who popped £2 or so off their phone bill be eligible, or is it just for the £20-and-up guys? Do they have to keep paying to maintain access to the servers? What if they've got friends or guildmates who are dedicated F2P players?

I am strongly opposed to this idea; it'd be an easy way to introduce a totally unnecessary rift in a largely affable community. There haven't been any specific announcements about server upgrades, true; but as the player base swells, the options are likely to come down to upgrading the servers or ditching the game.

Just out of interest, where are you based, and what sort of times are you playing to get such horrendous lag with such frequency that you'd pay to get rid of it?

Could the lag be from your

Could the lag be from your own internet provider perhaps? I play with people from all parts of Europe and haven't heard any complaints.

@Vero - there has been a

@Vero - there has been a *very* substantial increase in lag since the Steam-related population explosion. I never saw much lag before this expansion, but since then I routinely drop to 2 or even 1 bar on the meter, with in-game performance reflecting bad lag ("rubber-banding" and such). I'm actually quite close to the servers (Pingtest.com shows 65ms ping time to a test server in San Francisco), so I really shouldn't be seeing much if any lag. Either the servers themselves are simply overloaded by the number of players, or the network connections to those servers are being pushed to their limit.

They really need to consider upgrading *something*.
