I have just downloaded SK, but upon launching the game the login screen will freeze briefly and Windows says "not responding," but it responds shortly thereafter. After it responds the login screen says "Failed to Connect to Server."

My system specs are as follows:
System: HP G60 Notebook PC
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Browser: Google Chrome
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26GHz
Memory: 4GB
Graphics Card: Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset
Router: Westell A90-750015-07 (Verizon)

DirectX, Java, and Chrome are up to date. My graphics card has the most recent drivers.

Does anyone have any idea where the issue lies? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Is there a rule for javaw.exe

Is there a rule for javaw.exe in the windows firewall? (or disabled completely) Also, if your on your wireless, have you tried a wired connection?

Are you using Steam to launch

Are you using Steam to launch the game or the standalone client? Also, I looked into it more, and windows firewall actually labels it as Spiral Knights (my mistake). Anywho.... if it lacks an entry, it should be asking you if you want to allow/deny it.

Theres also suspicion that some ISPs (BT in particular) are filtering Spiral Knights because it can generate false positive for torrent traffic on their filters. In most cases, connecting during off-peak allows it to go through. The game uses ports 47624 - 47634 if you want to try tracing your connection to the servers.

Can you check your old-projectx.log file in the spiral knights folder (open with notepad). A few lines in, it should be trying to connect to game.spiralknights.com. The next few lines should show the connection error.

I'm using the standalone

I'm using the standalone version, not Steam. I looked into the firewall again and there is no entry for "Spiral Knights," and I am getting no prompt asking me to allow or deny.

I looked at the file "old-projectx.log" and this is the entire entry:

I had the freezing issue, and

I had the freezing issue, and briefly the failed to connect(it was fixed with the most recent patch for me)

How much RAM free do you have, what other processes do you have running when you instantiate SK?

So you still have IE installed on your computer?(I don't think this is true for SK, but a lot of sites use IE as a proxy to update live pages, even when you aren't on/using IE; even when your in a different browser)

Suggestion:send in a ticket to SK's actual techies, forum goers can only help so much-- but only do this as a last resort if you can't get it working in the next few days
