I think we should have an option box we can check to keep from getting unique variants for those players who just want the standard equipment like myself. I think there should be a 50/50% chance to get unique variants that upgrade from low to medium to high when transferred in an upgrade. This would give more value in making equipment.

That box only appears if you so happened to get a unique varient on your last upgrade. I'm talking about a case when you get a unique varient on your final upgrade (from four star to five star) in which case you can't get rid of it or prevent it because its completely random. T_T

Why?
Why would you ever want to get rid of a unique variant in favor of having nothing? The UV can only help you (admittedly sometimes it doesn't help much, but at least it never hurts).

There is. It says "transfer Unique Varient?" Uncheck it.
