What tier or gate does shadow defense come in handy?

ok i have scary skelly armour and most of the time when i go to tier 2 i rarely see anything that does shadow damage. and i was wondering when it would come in handy.

Fiend/Undead/Poison
Apart from Fiend and Undead strata, you can check individual gate maps to see if they have a lot of Fiend or Undead floors in them-
And as for elements, Poison is much more likely than the other status stratums to contain Undead.

FSC
The Firestorm Citadel has a lot of undead and some fiends. It sometimes appears as an undead stratum and sometimes as a fire stratum.

Unfortunately, skelly armor
Unfortunately, skelly armor has negative fire resist, and is a very poor choice for FSC. But as mentioned, it would be excellent armor to use for Fiend levels (as long as it wasn't fire-themed).
Any stratum of a gate that is fiend/undead based it would be useful in. Possibly in status effect based strata, but in those pretty much all types of defense are useful as you can find anything in them.
