I'm currently going down the Cobalt Armor path, and after researching the forum, I found out the Azure Guardian Armor isn't worth getting because it offers no extra status resistance, and at the same time really expensive? (very stylish though)
I know each armor has its own advantages/disadvantages depending on the situation, so I'm wondering if there's any armor sets I should keep in mind as I advance in the game (will I run into a lot of elemental damages?...etc.), other than the Vog Cub Coat/Skolver Coat which I know are extremely popular.
Armor path for beginners
Thing is when you are fighting X damaging monsters in a Y element theme, you'll get hit with X and Y. So unless you completely avoid element themes (which would be..challenging), you'll need element protection.
Thanks for the info guys! I think I'll be doing a lot of mixing and matching to have a more well rounded character.
I'm really drawn to the Dragon Scale Mail and Dread Skelly Suit...they just look good, lol.
Gunslingers are unneeded as "medics" because a player who isn't terrible with a sword will rarely die in the first place. The advantage of guns is that you rarely place yourself in danger. The tradeoff is that you do half (or less) of the damage of a player using a sword, you need space to kite, and some mobs in T3 are virtually impossible for you to kill in a reasonable amount of time. Some people enjoy it, just be aware that many people will refuse to group with you.
The typical armor path of most players is wolver -> dusker -> ash tail -> vog cub. This is the optimal path for most players because it optimizes sword damage, while at the same time providing normal/piece defense for Jelly King runs. After you graduate to T3, the vog cub set has normal/elemental defense and fire resistance for Vanaduke runs.
You can follow other armor paths and still get to T3, just make sure you do not get a set of gear without a fire resistance option because Vanaduke is currently the only real end-game content in this game.
I don't know, I don't seem to have a problem getting in to games, as to the medic part, even people who are excellent with a sword start dying in T3. But, as I stated above, most people don't approve of gunslingers.
Proof provided up there :P
You will run into a lot of every kind of damage if you play diverse strata in tiers 2 and 3, so eventually you will probably want multiple sets of armor to cover them all so you can equip properly for specific strata. Since wolvers and jellies gained piercing damage and devilites do more shadow, I actually find I get hit with a lot more piercing and shadow than I do elemental (maybe I'm just better at killing the constructs that deal elemental damage). There is no single best set because of this damage diversity. Cobalt armor is perfectly fine, but a UV for extra defense or a status resist will make it more worthwhile compared to the wolver line which offers freeze resist and a damage bonus to go with the normal and piercing defense.
Many people use some armor that complements their favorite weapons. Wolver line is for swordfighters, demo line for bombers, and gunslinger for gunslingers. I also personally like the magic line because fire and shock resist come in handy and I'm planning to work up a deadshot mantle for when I need shadow defense.
