I understand the difference, but why cant I wear the armor I have as my armor as my costume armor as well? If I costume armor the one I have equipped, it deselects it and if I reselect it as my armor, I get the other suit as my costume armor /pulls hair out. I just want the one as my equipped armor showing. How is this managed?

If you have no costume...then the armor you are wearing is what shows.
Why would you want to display the armor you are wearing instead of the armor you are wearing?

The costume only allows you
The costume only allows you to look as though you have something else equipped.
As others have said, just equip your gear as normal and people will see it.
Your regular armor will show if you remove your costume. So simply unequip your costume armor, then equip your desired armor as your armor. That should get it to show on your character.
