First off i would like to say
HI! to every new and loyal players of Spiral Knights

Sorry, But this would be my first post to Suggestions
I am also Sorry for other that might Disagree to any Suggestions
I've Been Playing Spiral Knight for a Few Months now, The Game Has been Great yet it if i may Suggest 3 Additional Contents to the game.

I'll try to make this as short as possible

#1 Questing

I'm also one of the players that spam specific gates to earn crowns, yet i have a feeling the game might end if its all just about spamming 1-2 specific gates.
Straight to the Point then.
Max Quest can be taken(depends on the Developers)
Each Tier has a Specific NPC that has a list of quest and specific Rewards(lets just say it's more of like a bounty board)
This would be an Example

Ex. #1
Tier 3
30 Red Rover
20 Ash Tail
50 Darkfang Thwacker

Reward: ???(Depends on Developers) Materials to random items

Ex. #2
Tier 2 Royal Jelly Gate
100 Royal Mini
30 Super Blast Cube
1 Impostocube
1 Royal Jelly

Reward: ???(Depends on Developers) Rare Materials

The Materials would be used on the new Items that are soon to come.
(This would also allow the Developers to keep what their hoping for Rare Items that are not easy to come by)

(Also Please Try to Consider that the Quest would be permanent/stays there and still in progress if so the players would be disconnected)

#2 Free Roam or New Worlds

Personal Experience some might get board from playing a game if you're only stuck in a few specific places.

Again Straight to the point
This would be a great addition to the Game having Multiple worlds to go through not just Clockworks.
Having Multiple worlds to go through and befor you get to a town there would be a Free roam Field in which player would have to go through

(I am not sure if This would be Implemented if so it would still be Their Decision)

#3 Advance Training Ground Content

A small Preview on what new players might face through out the First Depth
-Tier 1 Mobs Only -

Small Area for each specific monster to spawn each would have their own small room.
First Hand Look at Monsters to face

Basic Monsters for Tier 1
Wolver,Jelly Cube,Spookat and so on.

(I am also not sure if This would be Implemented ever since the Developers only put Mini-Bots in Training Ground)

Additional Suggestion:

Dual Weild Weapon
-(This would have already been Suggested)

Gate Change Timer
-A small clock besides the gate to let the players know how much time for the gate to Change
Yet this would already have been suggested as well
(Clockworks with no clock to see what time it is)

I like the idea of Questing items too. We need more interaction with the NPCs. They're really well-designed yet rather idle in the game.
(Maybe like protecting an NPC or something, or searching for them)

I think that this questing system could also be extended to make players collect materials not for crafting and selling purposes. Once you collect XXX ammount of XX, you earn some nice exclusive item. Exclusive because I like to feel like I am worthy of what I'm carrying - through hard work and not crowns D: I'm quite happy that the sealed swords are only obtainable through jelly tokens.
Material collection might be a problem with the materials and items being tradable, though. Maybe there could be a slot where we unload the materials and can no longer trade them once we're done. Kind of like the minerals system with a list that checks off what we have collected/completed.

Also, I think the quests should have varying difficulties - from quests that require stronger gear to those that require skill and precision.

This sounds interesting, but it also sounds like something that would take a long time for them to come up with something really solid and as impressive as the current clockworks. It would mean that these new worlds have new bosses as well. I'd rather the current clockworks be fleshed-out carefully than they do a sloppy job to expand on the variety.

If they do go ahead with this though, I would suggest having special items that are only obtainable from certain worlds. Eg maybe more shock gear from a shock based world.

I don't know about this. I don't really see the point of it? O: What if the new players get bored of the monsters. I actually love the mini-bots. More variations would be welcome :P

By the way, I'm am a relatively new gamer so I don't know all the terms used for gaming D:
What exactly are free-roam fields and double-wielding?

I have yet to beat vanaduke or reach the core, and I don't wanna spoil the experience by asking what happens at the core... so forgive me if I mention things that are already available in the game :P

True that it would take a lot of time and effort to make this kind of suggestion happen yet, this would only be a Heads Up for the Developers on which they might want to try on the Future Updates.

You Have also have your own point of view on what might happen if this is Implemented, either way if so they disagree on the suggestion i have 1 more
to add it would not have to be what i was implying on the 3rd suggestion
Straight to the point .
Small area in which they can see Displayed such as the Coins/Boxes/Heat with Descriptions you find in the Advance Training Grounds.

And search for an NPC in Clockworks levels? Great idea :)

I miss some kind of quests too, but I wouldn't like the kind you are suggesting here. Such quests would bring no pleasure, but just be another means of income. I'd rather see quests with stories that you actually can care about.

I can see what you mean by that, To the point in which players would meaninglessly do quests.
Guessing this would likely not be implemented in such ways that i am suggesting, would you suggest in some way to improve or revoke this kind of suggestion ? such as (Doing Main quest for the story about Clockworks//King Tinkinzar escapes and moves on to another world and knights would go after him )
There should also be a balancing in main and sub quests if such is implemented in due time.

I'm not sure if I have any good suggestions. I think you're onto something there though.
I think the mail/module system used today can accommodate more quest content. So there's really no need for any complex new functionality.

Hi. sry could not reply at that time, as for the suggestion of dual handguns i would not be too sure about it since guns already have average atk speed thou i might be wrong, i would also like to see Dual Guns/Swords and Such. Dual guns might be implemented in some way as new guns later on in-game thou with a lot of drawbacks.

Im not sure how long ago it was, or if I'm going crazy, but i think the style of quests you suggested weren't what devs wanted. they didn't want the whole 'kill 30 ducks; get a hat' thing. definitely need quests though...and Im guessing they've already got these planned.

Possible NPC Quest-Giver

I'm sure everybody has already guessed this, but, you know that guy in the Bazzar who is currently working on his robot? Well when/if he finishes the repairs (with or w/o your help) you could randomly meet him in 'safe' areas in the Dungeons (Accompionied (mind the spelling) by his robotic friend) who gives you a randomized quest for you to complete in the Clockworks and after finishing in the clockworks you meet him back on the surface to talk about your reward.

I Think this topic is amazing! We should definetly continue this when it becomes a chore to find it again. (And by that create a topic with the same Title as this, except with the number 2 at the end of it).
