Trojans
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Trojan
may be invincible when you fight them one on one (if you play solo or if your party is busy/dead). They just charge you into a corner and you can not:
- get out of the corner
- move trojan - they attack you too often to charge a weapon
- kill trojan - their shield blocks ANY kind of attack and is invincible
The best part is this: after you die, trojan may just stand there! So even if you do spend energy on resurrection, you still won't be able to move or do anything! Basically wasting all energy spent on respawning. This goes in contrast with level design, where you can always progress without getting yourself killed.

Simple solution: breakable shield. If it takes too much damage, it breaks and
a) trojan retreats to recover shield, just like knights
b) trojan becomes vulnerable for a period of time, so he can be killed
c) trojan stops attacking for a period of time, allowing one charged attack to be executed.

Not getting yourself into a corner is not a solution, thanks to lags trojan's attacks are nearly impossible to predict - they just throw you around the map randomly, at some point you suddenly appear in a corner with the big invincible horse mashing your shield.

Sorry to burst your bubble on

Sorry to burst your bubble on this one but I solo almost 100% of the time so I've fought and killed a lot of Trojans. Yes, the "holding you in the corner" thing can get annoying, but you can usually solve it by using your shield at the appropriate time, having a weapon with serious knockback or, if all else fails, waiting until he moves away after you've died, then rezzing.

Soloing a Trojan takes a different strategy than in a group and mostly seems to involve a lot of practice in timing. Keep at it and I'm sure you'll get the hang of it!

Usually I just circle around

Usually I just circle around the Trojan and it works perfectly fine both solo and in group but there are these rare moments when:
- game freezes for a second (happens all the time, no idea why)
- lag spike happens
and you end up in a corner with Trojan simply blocking your way out.

About shield/charged attack: sorry to burst your bubble, but Trojans, like Gun Puppies, are immune to it. Or so it seems. I used shield a number of times but Trojan didn't move 1 pixel. Charging attack is out of question, typical weapon needs 5 seconds to charge, Trojan attacks once per two seconds, breaking your charge (or killing you). Having a specific weapon equipped is out of question, there is no warning anywhere "don't enter without a weapon X equipped".

I'm not saying Trojan is bugged because he's invincible. I'm saying that under certain circumstances Trojan may lock you in a corner with their shield blocking both your way out and all of your attacks, leaving you in a situation where you can't survive. A situation where player can't survive no matter what is a bug, in my opinion.
Sure, he might move after killing you, but I was once in a situation where he killed me and simply stood there! I revived, he killed me again and stayed there!

Adding a step or two backwards to Trojans movement pattern would fix this. For example, after he does an overhead swing or when attacked he takes a step or two backwards.

If you'll read what I wrote

If you'll read what I wrote again you'll see that I never said anything about a charged attack. I also said that the shield needed to be used at the right time. Timing is crucial when soloing, for far more than just Trojans.

Lag spikes and freezes are, obviously, not a function of the Trojan specifically although I know they can contribute significantly to getting cornered.

While the cornering is an issue and I know it's been brought up many times before, it's similar to the "healers hide in brambles" issue or "mobs are immune to spikes". HORRIBLY inconvenient, but part of the game as it stands. Maybe they'll consider a bugfix for it, but since it's been around since the Beta, I have my doubts.

That said, in the countless times I've fought a Trojan, solo and not, every time I've been cornered I've gotten out through one of the methods I mentioned. Maybe I'm lucky or maybe it's skill, I don't know.

I do like your fix for it though. Adding a step back pattern after his swing seems like an easy solution to the cornering issue with no downside that I can see for the Trojan. But, I'm not a programer to developer so I don't know? You might want to submit it in the Suggestion forum though, if it doesn't have a thread already.

I had similar once. Wasn't a corner (like in a square arena level), but rather a "vestibule" for lack of better word. Had walls on 3 sides of me, and a narrow hallway out which just barely fit the Trojan. Not enough room to get to his side, and would have had to move the guy back 2 of his own body widths to have any room to maneuver.

In the arena, these guys are easy. But anywhere with a hall too narrow to fit both you and him... there is really no way through (well, if you have unlimited room to run away you can drop bombs and let him walk across I suppose, but if you have room to run, you can get out of the hall eventually too)

Trojans CAN be shield bumped.

Trojans CAN be shield bumped. Granted, it only pushes them back a few inches, but they are NOT immune to it.
