Hi together,

I've been playing a few days (since available on Steam), with some friends of mine. After looking through the Wiki I put together a 5* setup I'd like to use. Just wanted to ask, the experienced ones around here, what you are thinking about this.

Armory:
for boosting Elemental/Fire resistance
Vog Cup Cap
(http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Vog_Cub_Cap)

Vog Cup Coat
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Vog_Cub_Coat

Shield:
two options, to switch around
Royal Jelly Shield
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Royal_Jelly_Shield

Barbarous Thorn Shield
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Barbarous_Thorn_Shield

Swords:
Combuster
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Combuster

Leviathan
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Leviathan_Blade

Divine Avenger
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Divine_Avenger

Bomb:
for piercing damage
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Dark_Briar_Barrage

This is what I'm planning to get. My focus will be high/fast damage output with swords. Is this any good, am I missing something or should i change some of the items for other things?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Missing...

You're missing alternate shields that are something other than normal/piercing, like normal/elemental or normal/shadow, and you're looking to get one normal and two elemental swords. A piercing bomb is a bit odd because the enemies most vulnerable to pierce are generally better handled with a sword. Damage type is important in T2 and critical in T3, both what you're dealing and what you're receiving. Use the damage type that your enemy is vulnerable to, and they will quickly succumb. Go into a fight with a lot of one damage type and no protection against it, and you're toast. The speed on vog cub is great and it's the armor of choice for firestorm citadel, but it's not great everywhere. Consider ditching royal jelly shield in favor of grey owlite, and ditching combuster in favor of acheron. If you're primarily swords, consider a freeze bomb to help you lock enemies down or a gun to help you deal with gun-puppies.

Take a look at this chart and consider which monsters you'd rather fight with which kind of weapon, or wouldn't mind doing 'normal' damage instead of 'vulnerability bonus' damage. You never want to deal damage they are resistant to unless you're trying to get a status effect.

Hi Senshi, thank you for your

Hi Senshi,

thank you for your opinion.

Concerning shields:
Absolutely right on this, I'll be taking Owlite for Jelly shield.

A mate of mine will be using an acheron, this is why I decided to go Combuster. But I might double check on this.

As for the bomb, I'll be going for Shivermist Buster. Didn't think of freeze bombs to lock down enemies. But thats great. ;)

combuster is nice for damage

combuster is nice for damage but you already have that covered. use a glacius for the freeze.

I prefer 3 shield. Grey

I prefer 3 shield. Grey Owlite for anywhere but RJP. Volcanic plate shield for FSC. And barb shield for RJP. You may want to consider getting a argent peacemaker and a shadow weapon too.

I personally like the Levi

I personally like the Levi blade but only have normal damage but it can inflict massive normal damage.

Skolver cap

ironmight plate shield

these 3 guard against ALL status conditions AND protects you in every area (curse, elemental, normal, pierce, health)
mostly guards pierce and normal.

about the ironmight....that's

about the ironmight....that's not true.
it protects u against normal+piecering, nothing more.
when, the most of the damage that you'll block (turrets, gremlins, robots, beasts) is normal/elemental.

i think that shadow defence isnt so much usefull, unless u like graveyards, cuz part of the damage done by zombies in graveyards(on other places its elemental) is shadow, and an other part is normal.

Shield
Shields only protect when they are active, so you want shields that protect vs things you need to block. Ironmight is generally considered a poor choice in shield, especially compared to Volcanic Plate Shield. Trading fire resistance for pierce resistance in a shield just isn't going to be useful.

To the OP, your choice of Owlite and Barb Thorn Shield are excellent. The Owlite is the best defensive shield around with exceptional elemental + fire/shock resistance. And the Barb Thorn is the best offensive shield around... doesn't stand up to many hits but the sword damage bonus makes up for it - great for T2 e.g. Jelly King.

Armor
As far as armors go, generally people will double up defenses that they feel are most important rather than trying to cover all bases. Normal/Elemental being the most common things people want to defend against. So full Vog is perfectly reasonable choice in defenses. Also why Grey Feather Mantle is usually preferred over Divine Mantle.

For that matter, if you are going to wear a set that contains Divine, choose the Veil not the Mantle - they have identical defenses but only the Veil has Damage Bonus vs Fiends Medium.

As far as zombies go... Even in T3 they do approximately half Normal, half Shadow attacks. If someone uses a Divine Veil instead of Vog Cub Cab the resulting damage will be about the same. This is because you are now defending shadow but taking the normal portion full on, so it is practically a wash. Instead might as well defend against Normal which is more common.

Swords
You don't need two elemental swords to start, I'd switch out the Combustor or DA for a Flourish or Acheron.

Bombs
DBB is pretty awesome.
