Over a week now I've watched the going rate go from 3000 to over 5000, with no signs of stopping or any drops. Is this rate internally managed? In other words is there a cap on the rate at which it can increase and a cap on the maxium the conversation rate can become? Or is it purely managed by the market?

If its the latter, the conversion rate needs to have a cap, and most importantly needs a cap on the RATE at which it can increase. Otherwise, at the current rate well see energy-crowns at 7000 by the end of the week. Which really, really, really kills the players trying to legitly farm for energy, among other things....

this is called inflation we dont have enough crown sinks to keep it from happening nor will OOO intervene beyond providing the sinks (hopefully)

Steam users joining up and

Steam users joining up and buying a lot of energy probably deflated it down to the ~3-4k range it was for a while. The slow rate at which more people started trading for it is pushing it back up. I'm hoping people have the sense not to mindlessly haggle to push it up further.

One way to have OOO regulate

One way to have OOO regulate it and not have it player regulated. If you can but CE at a fixed price from OOO you should be able to sell and trade it for a fixed price. Socialism FTW

Needs more regulation

The Crystal Energy market definitely needs some sort of regulation. How do you think everyone who sold their energy early feels now that prices are going up towards being practically doubled? People are hoarding Crystal Energy and selling it later to screw other people over and although that's basically how our economy works, it doesn't mean that we can't make this system a little more fair and user-friendly. I can say I agree with Bunni wholeheartedly though. We definitely need a cap on how much Crystal Energy can cost and if we can at least get that in place, then a cap on the rate wouldn't be entirely necessary. The other thing I like the idea of is having an occasional Crystal Energy dump where auctions are created by the devs to lower inflation.

ya exactly, the problem is

ya exactly, the problem is that the economy is run and ruled by those with credit cards. Now, no offense to OOO, but i am sure they are not complaining and all the more, less inclined to change anything while the "getting is good".

But, i truely hope i am wrong...

The free mist tanks did that

The free mist tanks did that to an extent during the steam release.
All i really want is to keep playing. I'd trade an exorbitant amount of Crowns for CE if i could just keep playing....

Ceiling Pricing

I think putting a ceiling price on CE or regulating the price in some way such as the original suggestion in this post is actually in Three Rings best interest as hyper-inflated CE prices discourages people from playing and if there are fewer people playing that means that the game gets less exposure to the gaming community which part of would be potential item mall/cash shop/market place users.

Another issue with less people joining the game would be that at some point players are going to have exhausted all the mile stones in the game and cease to play resulting in the community shrinking and you can probably guess what that will do to the market place.

If Three Rings wants to "stretch out" the game/make it harder for people to get the higher star items, they could put a "tax" on buying CE when the user already holds unused CE. ie. if a person buys 100CE it'll cost X crowns (eg. 5k), then they buy another 100CE it'll cost X+Y crowns (eg. 6k) and it'll keep rising till that use the CE they hold in which case they will be back to X. By doing this, it would encourage people to buy CE from the market place in order to craft higher star items as it becomes exponentially more expensive to buy CE.

This is ridiculous. If a

This is ridiculous. If a player decides to spend his/her money on this game and donate, they should get immortality and a kill all button. We have every right to charge you whatever outrageous price we want for our energy (RL money). Besides it is the BUYER WHO CONTROLS THE MARKET. the prices only go up because you guys get impatient and try to offer more crowns for the same 100 CE. There will always be the newbies out there that will do this and so the prices skyrocket. when i sell my CE i go to the trade tab and the price drops 50-100 crowns because its selling my crowns to the highest buyer... Its called supply and demand. YOU HAVE THE POWER. YOU CONTROL THE MARKET. Everyone must comply to keep the crown/energy ratio down.

Energy and crowns was a beautiful concept but it seem to be OOO down fall and there are other way to get CE with cash such as pay-by phone and ultimate game cards but yes since credit cards are a primary source for purchase you have a point
