Just a few thoughts on how the use of the mail system might be improved:
* Mail from social menu/right click menu. You can already send someone a tell this way, so why not make a shortcut to the mail interface that puts that person in the recipient field? It would save a couple of steps, and also make life much easier when trying to send something to players who love strange and incomprehensible user names.
* Allow free guild notices from officers. Since there's nothing in-game that lets officers communicate with the guild as a whole, this would make life easier. To take a specific example, we have a lot of new guild members that don't know we have a guild website, and just asked to join us while playing. It makes officers grumpy to have to spend 25 crowns after accepting a member to then send them a message about the website, so older members end up trying to tell them if they see them online. Guilds that do scheduled runs or coordinated events would find this of great use as well.
(Note, a hypothetical naysayer will read the above and think "boo-hoo...25 crowns, what a complaint", but, c'mon, it gets to be a bit much when sending out a lot of messages to guild members. I'm sure there was a reason for charging for in-game communications, when every other game I've ever played never thought of such a strange money-sink, but there should be exceptions for the sake of practicality.)
WoW charges 30c per mail item (text is considered an item).
A Guild Information UI would solve sending mail. The new person could bring up the guild information UI and see you have a website listed, run times, etc. all without charging a single crown.
