Updating messes everything up!

Every update that comes on will just mess up my computer and I can't play Spiral Knights for a day or 2.It gets REALLY annoying.And I want it to stop,because Spiral Knights is my favorite thing to do now.Someone PLZ tell me this is just me!Or has it happened to you?

Which operating system and version of Spiral Knights are you using?
(i.e., Windows and Steam, Mac and downloaded version, Linux and Web-browser, etc)
